sign the tender?

if I wanted to really be traded to a team I wanted to go to though....there's no real clear cut answer

so why as Julius Peppers would you be getting flamed on?

knowing that the backup is sitting there waiting and knowing that if a trade for two firsts to the cellar pops up you are gonna have to show your ass and block it because of your age, why would it be in your best interest to sign early...as Julius Peppers?

My take on why he hasn't signed....

He's letting his agent negotiate trades with teams he wants to go to. If something can be worked out, he'll sign and then be traded. If not he waits till after the draft, signs and plays a year for the Panthers. This helps ensure the Panthers don't ship him to a team he doesn't want to play for.

that wouldn't happen anyway. he can block a trade and no team (other than us) is going to want to go through all that hassle only to pick up an expensive player like peppers who doesn't want to be there.

peppers could block a trade the way lucas did. hurney would know this and would get a deal done that would make all parties happy.

only way that all parties will be happy is if peppers signs the tender.

in a dream world yes. Evidently peppers does not buy into your philosophy. If peppers "blocks" a trade he stands to lose much more that Lucas. If it is clear to the NFL that he wants to go to a contender and will settle for nothing less, the competition narrows and the offers shrink considerably because this information just gave them all another chip in the game.

you have faith that Hurney can get something done that suits you more than your own agent then...and you are not willing to give your own agent two months to work it out....right?

i see what your saying. but it just seems that it would make things alot easier on both parties if he signs. IMO

Yeah, but does he really want to demand a trade and then when the Panthers have a trade lined up declare he won't be traded to that team. Also, a team could just take the chance that once traded he will give in and play rather than possibly ruin his career. Either way, not signing keeps the ball in his court a little bit more and just lets him avoid those situations altogether.
