Thoughts on the Saints Situation

Why?

Unless I totally read his article wrong, he's basically saying that an organization approved hitman system is commonplace in he NFL. And IF that's the case, Roger Goodell will have an even bigger issue with bounty-gate than what was previously thought.

Just read what the players are saying about this, it is common place. I bet every team in the NFL ran something similar to this in the past few seasons. What the Saint's are mainly getting into trouble for is that they were told to stop and didn't, they got caught and that coaches were putting money into the fund.

That's the point I'm saying. If the Saints aren't the only team where even the GM is in on this Hitman scandal, then Roger Goodell has his work cut out for him. But I highly doubt this.

It's just funny how the article fails to mention or include any excerpts or quotes from other players, Saints players, and even their coach on the sheer corruptness of Gregg Williams and the Saints organization.

His article screams "look at me" and it's just awful.

It's commonplace that players receive incentives for hard play and that much I agree, but is it commonplace that the Head Coach, The General Manager, The Head Coach's manager, etc are in on this practice as well? Is it commonplace that money pools reach up to $50,000? Is it commonplace that teams caught in violations of league ordinances continue the exact same violations as before?

Again, if the Saints aren't the only team that does these aforementioned atrocities, then this league as a whole is f*cked.

No i'm not. I don't care really. Well actually i wish more teams would do this. It would make the game a lot more interesting IMO.

I made this yesterday

but there is a difference in playing hard and playing for a few bucks to hurt somebody.

A lot of these players coming out and saying "everyone does it" are saying everyone runs a "pay for performance" system which is $1000 here and there for forced fumbles, interceptions, etc (which is against the rules). What we're talking about is PAYING TO INJURE. Massive difference. I've seen a lot of the media minimizing what they've done by calling it "pay for performance" and likening it to the system I mentioned when it's a whole different beast.
