Saints in BIG trouble...

This just confirms what I believed all along. When the story broke that they had a bounty going on I remember lots of discussion around here and I think the disappointing thing was that they couldn't prove it. I am glad it has come out finally. For me I hope that WIlliams gets the biggest part of the punishment. After all Saints management should have addressed it for sure but it wasn't happening before Williams got there. He was the scumbag who put in in place and continued it even after warnings. He shouldn't be allowed to skip town to St Louis and get off with an apology about learning his lesson. He didn't learn crap. He has always been a scumbag who thinks he is above the rules and a badass. Maybe suspending him for a season with no pay along with a 250,000 fine will help reinforce the lesson.

the schadenfreude is pretty thick with this story. however, so long as something crazy doesn't happen and the saints lose the franchise tag/brees, i don't see this having a huge effect on the team in the long run. next season, however? i really do think it's going to have a huge effect.

not surprised to learn of this bounty system. deangelo talked at length in his ustream about how the saints were easily the dirtiest team he'd faced, going after knees on the sideline, trying to take players out. this is a clear corroboration of his statements. i for one hope a statement is made with the penalty for this that scares any other teams that might have similar setups (let's not be naïve here) from continuing that process.

and let's not be too quick to jump on the high horse either, panthers fans. how many of you remember during the fox years about the "black glove" award for big hits, big plays by the defense. sure, we can convince ourselves that that award had a squeaky clean intention, but it's hard to say for sure what meaning it had behind closed doors. all that matters to me is that this crap stops, less players are injured intentionally, and people/teams that are caught doing it are punished appropriately. oh, and that 89 has a microphone near him when he scores a TD(s) in the superdome next season.

I know you guys don't like PFT, but they are absolutely destroying the Saints right now. I love it so much. After seeing outlets like the world-wide leader saying that the Saints didn't lead in personal fouls, it's refreshing to see a widely viewed football news source basically say: "The Saints are a bunch of dirty players. This is what they deserve."

It's one thing when team mates buy dinner or whatever...but when outside people are basically betting on players, somethin nefarious going on.

that's right....I added a dictionary to my toolbar.

You have no idea how pissed off I was when they beat the Vikings, and did so in such a filthy fashion.

To think those sh*tbags get to celebrate a Superbowl win that shouldn't have ever happened. On top of the dirty shots, there were so many questionable calls in that NFCC game.
