My car just got seized by the state, life is good.

That sucks big time, too bad you didn't know before hand maybe you could've put the title in someone else's name.

The state sends the local sheriffs department out, they have people that work specifically for state collections. I haven't dealt with a Dept of Revenue official since I got the bill.

Long story short...

Floppin was sneaking Mexicans across the boarder and got caught. The state charged him $10 for every Mexican he sneaked in (lots of fuging Mexicans right?) so now he have to pay $7k fine.

This is why I'm paying my state taxes and working something out with the IRS

Best advice I give my clients who get tax bills owed from the federal and NC: Pay NC first and in full since it is almost always lower. The IRS will work with you. NC will go after you and once you are more than a month late, your options become limited. They are relentless.

I once owed some back taxes to NC and they were pretty cool about it. Just set up a payment plan, and it took about a year to get them paid off.
