Oh that's right, he was a DE first. Bad memory I guess. I remember thinking he was overdrafted because he "looked" strong. I'm still surprised that teams can take a player that high with the plan to move them from their original position. There's just way too much risk involved. If they're gonna try that they should wait until later rounds. If he's not there by then, then just forget about it.

how low have our standards gotten that you assume everybody's just going to be better

out of our pile of young DTs if one of them developed into a starter it would be a surprise. Relying on Fua, Kearse, McClain, Shirley, and Neblett to get better and thinking Ron Edwards is going to come back from a torn triceps at 33 and wreak havoc at the POA is setting yourself up for failure

Really any team that preaches having competition only has room for 2 of the young DTs we have

I did not realize my opinion carried such weight. That I could lower an entire fanbases standards all on my own. Wow, that's heavy. Although, the more I think about it though, it is kinda cool.

It is called being a homer. I was under the impression my ilk have been around for generations. Optimism, and blind faith are the nature of the beast with returning players. Until proven otherwise I am counting on Beason and Edwards coming back. Gettis and Otah as well. Any returning player is welcomed with open arms. Until proven otherwise, if I can see it, it can happen.

Don't care if Edwards is just a band-aid. If he can be productive, he should play. One year, or multiple years. He improves our D-line immediately. Why cannot this be a possibility?

What if Otah is finally healthy? That would make us better.

What if Davis achieved the unthinkable? That would make us better.

What if Edwards and Beason can be productive? That would make us better.

What if Schwartz and Gettis give us what we expect? Better, that makes us.

What if our first and second round picks can play? That would....

What if Armanti and Pilares take big strides? Unlikely, but it would improve us.

What if some, or even most, of these happen. We are better, we are improving, and we basically did not spend a dime.

Also, why is it not feasible for our young DTs to improve with a full offseason under their belt. Aren't players supposed to improve as they mature? The odds of everyone of them not improving is pretty low. Although I ain't one of them math wizzes.

This is what it is like being a die-hard fan. Everything is possible. Until proven otherwise.

Simplistic? Sure. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you're the epitome of this franchise's childlike optimism when it comes to continually bringing back players that end up on IR year after year with high expectations

With all our needs we may have to piece together a couple of cheap vet tackles this year.I say that because drafting a another rookie tackle will have only a marginal impact unless a guy like Poe will play to his physcial skills.

2. it sounds like Garay can play the 3 techinque.

3.We absolutly have to upgrade our saftey and number 2 cb and at least a possible starter at OT.

This an absolutely identical situation to Jimmy and Cam a year ago.

No one expected them to play like Vets. We expected to see improvement and development as the year progressed. They did not. Damione Lewis was a rotational player, that's where contributed best. Fua doesn't even posses that kind of potential.

They are third round picks who weren't even able to live up to that billing, and there is little investmen made in them. We should seek any upgrade possible and not concern ourselves with making sure they get their fair shake. If their play had earned them one last year, it would be different but it did not.

The huddle would have gone up in flames if we had passed on Cam just because we wanted to make sure it was fair for Jimmy. If Cam had gone elsewhere an put up similar numbers to what he did here, everyone here would be on suicide watch.

You just can't run your team that way, you know that Horus.

you didn't see improvement? Fua got high praise from Rivera the game before he went out, and spoke on how he's improved. McClain shown us flashes all year of his ability, with better technique and strength training, I have no doubt he'll be on this team for a good amount of time..

also, bringing up a "fair shake" doesn't mean we Eric Shelton this bitch.. it simply means when looking at facts instead of presumption, it's going to take time for any rookie DT to really step his game up. facts of life, nothing more.

but talking about Cam and the huddle going up in flames, what the f**k does that have to do with McClain and Fua getting picked in the 3rd and needing a year or 2 to pan out..? nada damn thing...

Cam = Suh, Jimmy could be nothing.. Fua/McClain have no comparison at all.. 1st, you can't make blind comparisons without evidence.. 2nd, Jimmy could suck but that doesn't mean you have any validity comparing him to every person who you think should have played at a probowl level in their 1st year...

Maybe coming to Carolina, with coach Rivera he can be rejuvinated and put of pro bowl production. I think it would be a smart move to bring him in if he is willing to come for cheap.

I agree. As much as I like Poe I think signing Garay would be one less hole to fill. We still need a FS, CB, LB (I love Thomas Davis, but it would be foolish to not have a backup plan this year), and a better DE (Hardy is serviceable at best).
