Interesting for you then. If we did mirror SD and became a perennial playoff team every year for the next 6 or 7 seasons, but never won it all, how would you feel? It's a HUGE step up for us, but I could see how that could get frustrating for SD fans eventually.

How is signing former Charger players (who have actually done well for us, even Naanee, especially when he went to the slot) = trying to model the Chargers? It's just players. We still model ourselves by the Steelers business and FO wise.

We're not trying to emulate the Chargers as much as we're trying to copy their defense. You know, the same defense that Rivera built? Ron Rivera? Our head coach. Also, I didn't know we were in the position to look down on more successful franchises. What are we proud of again?

Disagreeing with me or adding your opinion is encgouraged, but you don't have to be a condescending dickhead with every response you make, especially when I already acknowledged CRA's post about the success the Chargers have had over the past 8 years. Grow the fug up.

Only thing that makes me not want Garay is that he might keep is from drafting Dontari Poe. I doubt they'd sign Garay, keep Edwards, and McClain and Fua... and then draft Poe.

I think, long-term we'd be better suited drafting a long-term stud DT than signing a middle-of-the-road free agent who would fill in for 2-3 seasons.

But like I said, if he's relatively cheap, I wouldn't hate the move.

Part of me says take Garay, and it messes with the development of the young guys. So, no, don't want.

The die-hard in me says, fug that. Two actual starting caliber DTs? Go for it. At the right price.

In a year or two, or best case scenario three years, what if the kids haven't overtaken the Vets by then?

With Edwards and Garay, we would then have the luxury of actually bringing the kids along at their own speed. No need to rush the kids. Get them some situational plays that fit their style. Set them up for success. Let them watch, learn, THEN play. I see this as a win-win. Again, for the right price.

IF we got lucky with Garay. It would set us up to be much more successful filling the remaining holes. The needs no longer outweigh the availability. LB, CB, and maybe FS are within reach. IF were shore up our D-line with Garay.

Just a thought, and GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say grab Garay so we do not have to take a chance with either Brockers or Poe. In a year or two, when our draft position levels out, these type of players will no longer be a reach.

I would rather have Worthy at 20 than Poe or Brockers at 9.

Just the die-hard in me. It can't be helped. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol at the notion this would cost fua and mcclain development

Do you guys want a good defensive line or do you want more reps for our 2nd year mid round DTs

I see that point, and development doesn't always mean playing. Learning from the vets can be as advantageous. Secondly, I kind of like Kearse, Shirley, and even Neblett better than Fua/McClain.

We cannot fix every problem in the draft, so at least this creates competition and allows us to focus on other needs.

How exactly does letting 2 young DT's rotate in instead of getting assfuged by starting hurt their development ?

The big question is, what 2 young DTs? I though Kearse outplayed them both, and Shirley had his moments.
