1st & 2nd round options

It could be Poe and then Jenkins.

As someone on NFLN said about Jenkins, "we have seen this movie before, and it doesn't turn out well", speaking of his off field choices.

He could possibly be there in the second for us.

That was a great quote....cant waste a ist round pick on someone with so little maturity

Doubt we take a DT in the first.

Rivera and team has said MANY TIMES that DT is not high on their perceived list of needs. We have 3-4 yound DT's on this roster that Rivera seems to like...and DT's typically take a season or two to develop. Add another vet DT and we go into the season.

With the talk of pressuring the QB, be prepared for DE or LB in the first (outside chance for OT if they do not believe in otah or do not like how he is recovering).

Outside of Claiborne, the value at CB in this draft is in the 2nd round. There is VERY little Difference in Kirkpartick/Jenkins than in Minnefield/Hosely.

Pass rusher (DE/LB) in Round 1 and CB in Round 2.

:sosp: smh I give up.

Why? They guy truly was not prepared when he came to the combine....unlike others who had worked their asses off to put their best foot forward. If he did prepare, and only lifted 19 reps, that is another big issue.

It is likely to be something that teams take a hard look at.

Would you trade out of the #9 pick with New England and get the #27, 49, and 63 picks? Considering our situation and the talent drops in this draft, I think I would.

We would pick 27, 40, 49, 63. (going from memory)

Yes, I think I would ask for 1 more pick later next year.. but I would do that in a heartbeat only because it allows us to add depth. (Granted, that is if we hit in the players we selected at those positions). What it does is it allows us a luxury selection that we normally would not have had. I might ask for their 2 firsts and a 3rd and call it good.

All signs for me are pointing to drafting one of the edge rush guys that has the ability to play multiple positions in multiple sets... As much as I hate to say it, I feel like we keep recruiting guys to play 3-4, in a 4-3 base scheme.. in essence we could see a more 50/50 split, with a lot of buffalo nickle situations and 3-4 looks.

I really think for some reason we hope Coples is there when we pick. Although this bumps someone who is young and talented (Hardy) and I am not sure I like that. I keep coming back to this idea that we need a ton of LB's 2 of whom should be able to come in and Start if injuries keep guys off the field. I just dont know how we address all of our needs for two reasons.. 1.) Not enough picks. 2.) Over the cap with the scrubs we already have. :(

should add keuchly and jenkins in there. put jenks in the 2nd if you want, i don't care though i doubt he would still be around when we pick in the 2nd but whatever.

aside from reiff (who will more than likely be playing guard at the pro level according to what teams were saying at the combine) i'm pretty happy with all of them.

now if we were to trade down i would gladly add a few more in there.

some teams were taking about moving decastro to RT and people were nuts about cordy glenn as either an OG or OT so might as well add those two in because either of those guys would be solid (tho i'd rather we use the first couple picks on D).

i'd also add devon still in there also.

honestly i'd be happy with any of these guys....well, maybe not happy about using a top 10 pick on an OG, but whatever.

Yeah, its amazing how big of a selection we have and really any of them could make an impact.

Another interesting scenario if we don't go DT in the first:

1) Kirkpatrick

2) Hosley

Some people are saying Kirkpatrick can be both a CB and an FS...that would be very nice to have imo. Gamble and Hosley with Hogan and Butler as nickle/dime guys with Godfrey and Kirkpatrick at safety. That would be the best solution to our defensive backfield but that would mean we would then need to scoop up a DE at the very least in the FA. Also, we get a return man in Hosley that's not a WR. (Which I prefer given we're most likely keeping Pilares)

We seem to be on the same page cornerback-wise my friend.

I'm starting to like the idea of kuechly as BPA in the first.

Luke Kuechly

Markelle Martin

I like this one

That gives us a Martin replacement and a guy I'm sure the staff can figure out how to use with Beason at the same time. It upgrades our special teams and gives us depth. Also, it allows us to get a CB later in a CB heavy draft and also some FA flexibility. That could be a very interesting direction.

I like Kuechly in the first and Minnifield in the second. If we do DE-- I like Massoquoi or Guyton in the 4th. Unless we go DE in the first or second, they won't be a game changer right away. Kuechly and Minnifield could be day 1 starters especially if Davis goes down.

  • 2 weeks later...

3 players I wouldn't personally put at the top but I think we could wind up with as of today given other teams' situations:

Claiborne

Coples

Keuchly

As much as I like Fletcher I really don't know if we end up going DT...this draft is just such a crapshoot

and btw...there's two guys I would not leave out of the equation especially in a trade down scenario:

Nick Perry & Whitney Mercilus
