teams do it, though. they all run smokescreens of this sort int he draft and they did it long before there was such a thing as twitter.

Teams don't know for sure which team is going to take which player. You think they don't do research by contacting reliable and very unreliable sources to find out their information? You honestly believe there isn't the possibility that teams blow smoke to trick teams into trading up or trading down based on false pretenses? It's really a moot point though because it does happen, regardless if you think it makes you appear more sensible if you pretend it doesn't exist.

i remember getting into this long drawn out discussion about smokescreens with someone a few years ago and even pulled out examples of teams, including the panthers, where they had admitted using them and cited situations that they had.

if the search function worked for me i would find it just because it was kind of interesting to see them talking about it.
