At #9 Jonathan Martin or Riley Reiff could be available causing the Detroit Lions to move up as LT is their biggest need.

Carolina Panthers Receive:

2012 Detroit Round 1 Pick 23

2012 Detroit Round 2 Pick 22(54 Overall)

2013 Detroit Round 1 Pick

Detroit Lions Receive:

2012 Carolina Round 1 Pick 9

2012 Carolina Round 4 Pick 8

Draft

Round 1 Pick 23: DT Mempis Dontari Poe

Round 2 Pick 8: CB South Carolina Stephon Gilmore

Round 2 Pick 22: DE Syracuse Chandler Jones

Round 5 Pick 9: OLB Florida State Nigel Bradham

Round 6 Pick 8: FS Mcneese St. Janzen Jackson

Round 7 Pick 9: WR Fresno St. Devon Wylie

Round 7 Pick ?(Comp Pick):BPA, best punter available.

By trading down in the first round we can fill a lot of holes on the team. Get guys who can come in and start day 1 most likely in Gilmore and Poe. Plus you get guys who might take a little bit to develop, but have definite potential to be very important to this team down the road in Chandler Jones, Nigel Bradham and Janzen Jackson. Plus we get a guy who, if he can stay healthy, has the potential to be at the very least a good ST'er, and if we get lucky a good slot receiver. All the while managing to pick up and extra first round pick next year.

Lemme know what u guys think.

I would do that trade and I like those picks. I doubt Poe, Jones, or Wylie would be available where you have us selecting them.

I thought about that too, but people might be hesitant on taking poe much earlier bc his tape doesn't really mirror what he did at the combine. Jones was somewhat unimpressive at the combine, however I like that he has huge long arms(not to mention his pedigree), very similar to JPP in that sense. And I dunno about wylie, know he performed well at the combine but it all depends on how teams feel about how injury prone he has been. Could always swap out Poe for Still and Jones for Curry if need be.

Is that trade fair? Looks like we are getting the better end by a good bit.

Pretty close, about 70 points off, maybe less. Lions will likely be good next year, probably better than this year if they can get a good LT and shore up their secondary. I remember reading somewhere that future first rounds were counted as half of the value of their current year pick. And seeing as the Lions desperately need a franchise LT, I could see them overpaying a bit.

According to the value chart, we win but only by about 300 points or so, as Detroit's first next year would likely be VERY late in the first round....

horrible trade. But I mean, makes sense. That is the kind of stupid trade Hurney would make. Also, those players wouldn't be available in those positions.

Love when people criticize without giving any sort of reasoning behind it. And make vague statments like "those players wont be there." Maybe you should share your crystal ball with the rest of us.

    • I want to throw in how much easier it is for a QB to develop and improve with a good oline.  Huge credit to the front office for spending the money on our two guards.  Cade Mays also had a 2nd really good game starting at center.  Love how he has developed and hope he's the real deal. Look at what Stroud is dealing with now in Houston after injuries and problems with their oline.  Strouds accuracy has been greatly affected as it seems like he doesn't trust his protection. Canales is doing a great job developing Bryce.  I think the QB whisperer might be for real. And obviously big props to Bryce.  First round pick that looks horrible in his first year.  Different coaches and systems.  Fans and media are calling him the biggest bust in NFL history and he looked like it in the first two games this year.  Gets benched.  Young man keep his cool and just continued to work and only worry about what he can control.  I hope things continue like this and we end up with a great success story. Bryce Young kept pounding.
    • Outside of Philly (who currently is #3 in pass defense) the rest of our remaining opponents are bottom 1/3 of the League in that regard.  Let's see what Bryce can do versus bad pass Ds.
