Running QBs don't win Super Bowls..

Or it could be he honestly believes what he said. Impossible right

Possible. For what it's worth, his name would indicate he's Hispanic, not white.

My own read - from this and other articles of his found via links - is that there's not really enough to say he's racist.

There is, however, plenty to indicate he doesn't know football especially well.

For one, his definitions of what makes a running quarterback are vague. And his list of who qualifies as a "running quarterback" is almost entirely wrong. Vick is the only one I'd put in that class (maybe Cunningham in his early years under Buddy Ryan). All the other names listed are guys I'd call either mobile or dual threat, but not "running".

On the flipside, a couple of his "pure passers" aren't exactly statues. Aaron Rodgers can move pretty well. And while Ben Roethlisberger may not be "known for his running skills" he's not exactly that great a passer either. His best trait is being able to extend plays by being difficult to sack. If it weren't for that, I doubt he'd get anywhere near the hype he does.

Throw in that he leaves The Golden Calf of Bristol off the list. Nobody in the league - not even Vick - fits the definition of good runner/lousy passer better than The Golden Calf of Bristol right now. But then he is a Bronco fan, evidenced by his other articles defending The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Which brings up a bit of additional confusion: depending on which bio you read, he's either a Bronco fan since the days of Elway or a Cowboy fan since the days of Staubach. The second is ironic given that Staubach was known to be a fairly mobile fella in his day. It's also likely the reason why he has an article on file arguing that Tony Romo is a better QB than Eli Manning.

So...racist? Derned if I know. There sure isn't enough in just this article to say that for certain.

Clueless? Yeah, pretty much.

there are running qbs like Vick and Cunningham

and there are qbs who can run and/or create space like Rodgers, Rothlisburger, and Young.

There has never been someone who can do both consistently and win, true. If there is it may not be Cam, but he is looking like he can be that run threat when needed and he looks like he wants to pass the ball first and run only when necessary if a pas play or protection seems to break down. He also seems to time his big run efforts for when we, the team, needs them and not out of desperation but almost like a shot in the arm to the offense.

The subject of this article is exactly why I was not a Cam fan pre-draft. Now however I don't think Cam is what the author is making him out to be. He is different than any of the little boxes most are trying to place him in. It remains to be seen whether that is "good" for the franchise and the NFL but so far all signs point to success.

The biggest thing that turned me around was the first quarter of his first start. Outside of a couple games where we were clearly out of sync I felt we had a chance to win every game we were in with him under center. I have not felt that way in a while based strictly on the QB.

Keep it up Cam. Keep 'em guessing? Keep Poundin'!
