La Canfora has Claiborne falling to us

Exactly.

It was Claiborne from the beginning for pretty much everyone here (Well, minus the UNC homers wanting Coples).

If the draft works out like this, and Claiborne does fall to us, I wish that Hurney would trade back into the first round, and grab Poe as well. Could you imagine the Draft of Claiborne, Poe, and maybe Joe Adams in a late round? Insane.

The way that Claiborne falls is if the combine hype of Poe and others push them ahead of our pick.

As in, trade back into the 1st round. Like, draft Claiborne at 9, then, trade some picks to move up into the 1st round, again. Resulting in two first round draft picks.

Gotcha! Thanks.

I've thought about this as well, but many around here still seem sour about the Otah deal, lol.

I'd be all for it.

According to La Canfora's mock, the way it works is that Trent Richardson and Ryan Tannehill make it into the top 10, and TB takes Blackmon instead of Claiborne, which I doubt will happen.

I see it as, we're at a point now where the future is now. Winning should matter now, not worrying about piecing together the rest of the team. We are just a few pieces away from being a real contender in one of the best divisions in football. If Rivera truly wants to be aggressive, that's how it would be done.

Also, I'm sure Cam would rather win now than wait until we get a piece here, and a piece there, through the draft.

How does everyone feel about Claiborne vs. Kirkpatrick?

I would still be excited if Claiborne isn't there and we find a way to nab Poe and Kirkpatrick with some maneuvering.

I have said tho plenty of times on this forum but Claiborne over Kirkpatrick any day. Dre is more physical and excels in zone. He can play press man but if he gets beat early, it's over. Claiborne has better coverage skills and ball skills. He also has the ability to shut down his side of the field better.

Here's another one of my posts on this topic: http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3465918&postcount=2

I may be biased, but Janoris Jenkins impresses me more than these two. I think he has basically started every game in his college career. And his performance last year on Green, Jeffery, and Jones was great. Although he lacks size when compared to others he makes up for it in aggressive play.

These other two may just have more potential.

As for the other two:

I like Claiborne better because I think he has better combination of size and ball skills. He is better in coverage than Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick is overrated IMO. He is a great physical specimen and can lay the wood. But when it comes to coverage, Claiborne seems to be around the ball more. Dre gets beat more in coverage.

Coverage/shutdown skills: Jenkins (Claiborne 2nd)

Ball Skills: Claiborne (Jenkins 2nd)

Physical play: Kirkpatrick (Claiborne 2nd)

Don't care for Kirkpatrick's cover skills. His height and hard hitting is nice. But his hands suck, and has short arms that offsest his height his height advantage. Jenkins and Clairborne are far superior to him overall.

Radiokiller pretty much nailed it.

I hadn't watched enough of Kirkpatrick to know for sure. The times I watched him, what did stand out was his physicality, but I hate Alabama's defense. For whatever reason, their players seem strong and physical overall, but slower, at least compared to other SEC defenses.

I liked Kirkpatrick's length and tackling ability, but I hadn't seen enough of him to judge his coverage skills.

It's the opposite with Claiborne... There are specific plays I remember seeing him make amazing adjustments and knock balls away or intercept them, but I don't remember much in terms of him coming up against the run or big tackles.

I disagree..

If we expect to win anything in the future it'll come from coaching up talent and bringing more pieces to the table, not taking away..
