Why is the thought of Manning staying with the Colts unheard of?

The fact that the owner cleaned house made it hard for Peyton to want to stay. When no one is there that he has a relationship with, it is much easier for him to leave.

Peyton's O coordinator Arians from his rookie year is back, and they retained the QB's coach (who was Peyton's O-coordinator last year) Clyde Christensen.

Radio this afternoon, I think the Scott Van Pelt show? So, it seems a 'lock' that the Rams trade their 2nd round overall pick. Dish to Cleveland they can still get Blackmon.

What's 'new' to me is they were talking THREE first round picks for the 2nd overall...at the minimum.

OK - so figure Manning has 3-5(?) years left in him, thats 3-5 years of arguably the best QB to ever play. Resign Manning, trade the pick, stockpile the draft - worry about your franchise QB in a few years.

-This way you are automatically back in the hunt.

-You get the goodwill of keeping Manning.

Yes - there is the unknown of how bad his neck is - but this guy has been a warrior right? Isn't this the first season he missed a start??

I know everyone is saying Luck is all that and a bucket of fried cheese, but I ALSO remember them saying the same about Leaf. Luck is unknown - he might be, heck probably will be great - but it just seems cRzY to not resign Manning and get a ton of great picks.

So if you put your Colts GM hat on...what do you do?

As a GM..............

I'm not going to pay 28 million dollars to find out if Peyton is "Football Healthy"

I almost hope Luck and RG are busts so I can laugh at the Colts for letting Manning go. Another question to this is people talking about the Browns moving up too - wtf...McCoy wasnt THAT bad..he may not be lights out but why on earth would you trade 2 picks (at least) to move up a couple spots?

All the talk is teams talking to the Rams for the 2nd pick, just strikes me some team like the Redskins would be going for Luck and talking to the Colts.

question to you.........

Do you see McCoy leading a team to a super bowl victory?

PS.....no one is talking to the Colts because it's a given....

I put McCoy in that area of QB that is good enough...like Delhomme. He may not be elite, but it seems very risky to give so much on a chance. We see it EVERY year where so and so is hyped up and that ...BUST. We can all name guys in this area - and while that risk is going to be true on say a WR, it isnt as 'painful'.

I put Mccoy in that area of--oh wait, I've watched almost every one of his starts and many of his stats are accumulated in junk time when the defense is in prevent or soft zone coverages. He's good back-up material in some respects. But the guy is not an NFL starter. Look at Cam Newton and some of the other physical talents in this league. Then look at Colt Mccoy. It's a different game.

well McCoy wasnt bad, but he wasnt good, i think in the end, Cleveland stays put, sure they need a QB to compete and likely take McCoy's job, but they also need a pass rusher, a Wide Reciever (look at who they field at WR) and maybe a safety, but the biggest needs are WR and DE, if they do get RG3, they better hope that he has more to throw to than Massaquoi, Little and Cribbs. the Redskins WRs may not be all world, but Moss, Gaffney and Hankerson are better than what they have.

i dont, first off, how will you laugh when Manning is gone in 3 years??? maybe Luck does bust, but it could be worse, they could have Manning come in, get hurt and then be back at picking high, this is a gamble, you either risk having Manning for possibly 3 more years or get a young QB who could be the next Manning, the Colts need to do this.

i dont see the Colts trading the pick. i think Irsay really wants to get Luck to have his future set, now will Manning stay, who knows, but from what i think will happen, Manning, Wayne and Garcon are out, Luck is in and they will then likely sign 2 WRs and draft one.

I'm glad he's not the Panthers QB.
