If we want a NT- look no further than Dontari Poe

Bucky Brooks just talked about Dontari Poe and his comparison to Kris Jenkins. If we had Kris Jenkins again i'd probably poo my pants.

Coples in the first, Cox/Brockers in the second. If we picked up a CB/FS in FA I think our defense would look pretty good.

Second coming of Kris Jenkins and you still want to take Coples in the first? Brockers in the second? CB OR FS ("or" hahahaha because the positions are interchangeable right) in free agency? Our biggest need taken care of in free agency? lol stay away from our draft.

Memphis vs Marshall Observations

#74 Dontari Poe, DL, Memphis

-Lining up at DT, looks all of his listed 350 pounds.

-Fights off cut block, pursues across the field.

-Doubled, taken out of play. Not super quick off the ball early.

-Running well for a big man, carries his weight very well.

-Diagnoses screen play quickly.

-Sitting out some plays.

-Good pad level, anchors well against the run, allows short gain.

-Drops into coverage, looked very fluid – good change of direction.

-Bull rush, converts into outside move with a decent rip.

-Shedding blocks well, doesn’t let OL latch on.

-Having fits with double teams, getting taken out of play.

-Much better work on double team the next series, pushes both blockers into the pocket.

-Sheds block, makes tackle on RB.

-Very strong through his lower body, tough to root out.

-Has stayed active the entire game – good motor.

-Impressive first real look at Poe, much more athletic than we initially thought. With some good coaching, he is going to be an absolute menace at the next level.

Poe is a beast! More mature than Brockers (junior). If Marty wants to really earn that check he should bag both (impossible). I think Kirkpatrick with a move up to get Poe would be genius. This is such a deep draft

that a high 2nd is a valued pick, add a player or two or picks and move up to get Poe.

In a copycat league more and more teams will start loading up their D lines with talent like the Giants do. A good front four seems to be the Brady, Brees antidote. They've got a lot less time to pick you apart.

We got Hogan, who should get an opportunity, and Gamble already. Add some beef in the middle and Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy would be better players almost instantly and our secondary has much less time to cover.

This is a deep enough draft that if we made the right moves our interior could be strong for many years to come.

No more trading away future draft picks! :/

Problem is the DL isn't our only weakness.

I mean I can't advocate spending 4 of our last 5 picks in the top three rounds on DTs (if possible).

Meh. Brockers hardly has any reason to be considered a first round pick besides being a DT from a big school. Come April, things are gonna change. We'll be looking for Brockers to fall into the second, while Poe will be pretty much locked-in in the first round. This isn't saying more about Poe than Brockers though. Brockers is just asking to have his draft stock plummet over the next few weeks considering his average size and poo experience.
