Poe has 32 inch arms and Kris jenkins had 33 inch arms so what is the big deal?? Also he is a weight room junkie so why would he be fat or have trouble controlling his weight?? At 350 he looks prettyy athleetic and muscular.

With most of the Olinemen having big reach advantage they get a grip on him could be a problem.

Sure scouts GMs and coaches value the combine, that is why they are all there. But they look forward to the interviews, chalk talk and watching how they handle themselves in addition to the workouts. The drills are just 1 part of the combine much of which the fans don't get to see. But as I said you may rise fron the 4th or 5th best DT up to 2nd or 1st. No one vaults from undrafted to the first round. But then again, no one said they would................

Also to note: Suh is not the only DT to come in as a rookie and make an impact.

Take Phil Taylor, rookie out of Baylor. Similar to Poe but not as big or strong. The Browns lined him up as an UT and played next to Ahytba Rubin a pretty good NT.

Taylor put up pretty good numbers last year. Definitely made an impact as a rookie.

pointing out 1 more exception rarely makes the rule.. people who are dogging our rookie DTs fail to realize how ignorant they look when they assume drafting another one should bring instant success.. but hey, maybe we turn out to find the exception.

I can see that...the process here sheds light on these guys that can be damaging, if not fatal, to their draft stock. As far as moving up? You won't see players move as dramatically up the boards from a performance here, but if a few top players at a position fail to impress coupled with a guy knocking it out of the park, you get the Poe situation. He's now in the top 15 discussion when he was late 1st round before the Combine. That's quite a jump considering it's the 1st round. Will it hold up? His Pro Day just got more interesting for sure.

It's a subject that's been beat to death (in one day), but what separates H. Ngata, V. Wilfork from Dontari Poe as prospects = production.

still optimistic about poe, but he's going to have to be run through the ringers in individual meetings and workouts.

and Poe's production in a weak conference indicates he may be neither a run stuffer or penetrator in the NFL.

Too many impressive guys with the pads off doing drills just can't get it to translate into play on the football field.

There are Poes every year. Amazing looking off the field, nothing amazing thus far on it. Lots of very raw gets have shown more dominating production on a the football field

Not true at all. What it means that the combine helped clarify some things that they were not clear about. Look at Chris Johnson a few years ago. He was listed as a second or third rounder but blew it up in the combine and was taken number 17 by Tennessee. That seemed to work out pretty well until Tennessee decided not to pay him. Also note that people had him as their 4th or 5th best DT, not 25th. Moving up from 5th to 2nd for example is not that huge.

The combine helps players from smaller schools shine and compete on the same stage. Do you think anyone knew how strong Poe was or how weak some other guys were? Remember that these underclassmen don't get the press or publicity of upperclassmen. The combine opened some eyes.

Now expect guys to go back and watch Poe's games with renewed interest. What he may lack is not ability but lack of supporting talent and coaching. As a junior he was just coming into his own.

Being a Memphis fan, the thing I do know is the coaching and surrounding talent was dreadful. No one knows how good he would have been in college if he had played for a better team. If Clayborne falls, we have to pick him. As far as DT, Poe has brought himself into the conversation. Brockers slid some but I have no idea who will be a better pro. I am also intrigued by Cox.
