I'm sorry for the bland presentation, but I'm getting ready for work and wanted to get this down before the combine :D

1st - Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

2nd - Markelle Martin, FS, Oklahoma State

3rd - Traded to cHI for TE Gregg Olsen

4th - Keenan Robinson, OLB, Texas

5th - Nate Potter, OL, Boise State

6th - Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma

7th - Bryan Anger, P, California

(I'll update this to be all pretty and explainified when I get time)

Im gunna change your user name to Bob soon...

or you could unban my original account! :aureola:

My reasoning for not drafting any dline has more to do with my draft philosophy (if you can call it that). My main goal is to get immediate starters out of the first two rounds with 3rd/4th rounders being development guys who can rotate in. 5th, 6th, and 7th from that point on are to fill needs and make value picks.

With that said, Ron Edwards will be one of the starting DT's next season. McClain and Fua will both be coming back with an actual offseason under the belts to go with their year of NFL experience. Jason Shirley showed good potential, and I'm all about some Andre Neblett. The DT position was addressed last season and I'd like to see how the two 3rd rounders develop before casting them aside.

Also, Darius Butler is going to cost over $700k to keep around. He didn't outright take the spot from Captain, which leads me to believe that both him and Josh Thompson/Thomas? will be gone next season. Janoris Jenkins is the best cover corner in the draft and could start immediately with Hogan competing for the #2 or 3 spot with either Jenkins or Munnerlyn. We play against the Falcons who have Roddy White and Julio Jones twice a year, we play the Saints who have Drew Brees twice a year, and we play the Bucs who... well... we play the Bucs twice a year also. :D

As far as DE is concerned, Greg Hardy did awful vs. the run but he was also a 5th round steal in his 1st full season as a starter. I don't think he did too bad considering what we going on all around him. Thomas Keiser also stepped up, and Charles Johnson is getting paid. I would love for Applewhite to stay, but if he can get paid more to play more I would be more than understanding.

tldr; I'd like to see how our two draft picks step up as opposed to just throwing more poo at the wall until something sticks. CB lacks depth and talent and in a passing league with one of the best QBs in the league in the Panthers division it seems to be the smarter pick (imo).

I don't see the point of trading down 3-4 spots to take the best cover corner in the draft at #9 overall. If somebody is willing to, sure, but trades don't simply happen because one team would like to get somebody at the right # in the draft order.
