Comparing QB Robert Griffin III to Cam Newton draws laughs from NFL talent evaluators

This year, the Tigers lost not just Cam, but their top two receivers for the last couple years, experienced backups and linemen.

From 2010 to 2011, Auburn lost their starting left tackle, both starting guards, their starting center, two starting wide receivers, their starting QB (Cam), a starting defensive end, two starting defensive tackles (one was Nick Fairley), two starting linebackers, a starting safety, a starting cornerback, and a starting place kicker.

In other words, Auburn had to replace 15 of 24 starters (including kickers) in 2011.

I can't give a real opinion on RGII as I never really saw much of him... but based on his raw #'s wouldn't he compare a lot more to Vick? He's taller than Vick yes, but just as mobile right? Can he throw it better than Vick? Someone said Brees too, maybe a better comparison.

Nobody compares to Cam so that point is moot...

One thing that he seems to have similar to cam is a good work ethic but other than that I don’t see a comparison outside of race.

..and its not even close. Like someone else said, RG3 is more Brees than Cam.

Atleast with RG3, it may mean the end of "white QBs are smart, black QBs are athletic" hogwash we hear from commentators.

I'm predicting 45+ on the wonderlic. I think he could do better in Peyton Manning's offense than Andrew Luck, but I doubt Luck drops.

Wonderlic scores are worthless anyway.

Eli Manning scored higher than Peyton. Ryan Fitzpatrick scored like a 48 yet Dan Marino score like a 13.

marino scored 16.

the average for nfl receivers is 17.

but i'd imagine higher scores scare teams off - players may overthink (which i think is fitzpatrick's problem) or try to bump heads with coaches.

for every exception like dan marino, there's a case that supports the rule (chris leak scored an 8. where is he?)

for every vince young (6 on first test) there's an oscar davenport (5)

Michael Silver did an extensive write up today (hes been busy this week--he did the Quinn The Golden Calf of Bristol article as well)

Read the whole thing, but here are some highlights:

Like I said, read the whole thing, its a good one.

Exactly. I've said it from the beginning. Griffin's legs look like spaghetti when he's out there running, and his build is lopsided...way too top heavy. Smart people have to question how much a guy like that can take.

But Steve Young did it, and he wasn't built like Newton (or Luck who can also run well for his size), but the early 90s was a much different time, and even then, Young had a much more solid base (in the legs) that Griffin has.

Chris Leak is short, not particularly athletic, and didn't have a particularly great arm.

I don't think his wonderlic has all that much to do with his absence from the NFL.

This guy and the people who he talked to are obviously idiots.

I have been assured time after time on this forum that NFL talent evaluators are never ever ever ever ever ever ever influenced at all by the color of a prospect's skin.

EVER.

And if you think any such thing you are obviously a member of the Club of Idiots.

Racism is dead. Didn't you know that?

LOl@ your sarcasm..
