I'm not necessarily ready to. I was actually a huge fan and thought he had great potential, but last year wasn't just bad... it was horrible.

I would be all for giving him another shot as the starter, but I titled the thread the way I did because it doesn't sound like JR feels the same...

It's hard for me because for every missed-tackle-on-Wayne-type-of-play, I remember him knocking guys out against the Giants and coming in as a rookie and getting picks against the Cardinals and outplaying the starter.

It's hard to tell with him.

I've never been a Godfrey guy, but I liked the way he played last year for the most part. He seemed to really improve.

both physically have the talent.....but neither have impressed outside of isolated moments.

I just don't get how people can be done w/ Martin when Godfrey was allowed to suck for much longer. Yeah, he improved this year but I think he was just as bad as Martin that far into his career.

Definately could competition for both. Heck, outside of Johnson, Gamble, and Beason.......I think every position should be earned in camp.

TBH, no one on the defensive side except for Gamble, CJ, and Beason should have their starting spot guaranteed. Safety has always been an afterthought for our front office, considering they've tried to fill it with a LB and now two college CBs converted to Safeties.

Again, Godfrey was much improved this year for the most part, but safety has always left something to be desired.
