Halloween (Rob Zombie version)

Because the Halloween remake made so much money, they let him have free creative range on the sequel. He wrote the damn thing in two months and didn't have anyone critique or edit it before it went into production. Huge mistake, thus why this movie was such the turd it was. His original remake was just ok. The acting in the first half hour of the movie is just cringe worthy. Ugh.

His best movie was Devils Rejects. House of 1000 Corpses was another turd ripoff of another classic in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Best remake of the last 10 years either goes to Amityville Horror, Last House on the Left, or The Hills Have Eyes.

I actually liked the direction he took H2. We actually seen characters lives ruined by Michael and that's likely how it would be in real life. Or I at least thought it was better/ different than the cliche old "ZOMG I SURVIVED BUT NOW I HAVE NIGHTMARES AND NOW HE COMETH BACK TO KEEL ME" That's also kind of why I enjoyed hobo-Meyers. I mean what the fug else is he going to do for the rest of the year besides be a bum?

I did hate H2 when I first seen it, but it's grown on me as a fun, dark, slasher. I still hate that bullpoo with his ghost mother though. That was obviously only in there so he could get his wife on screen again. I think she's fine as an actress in these movies, that bullpoo was just unneeded and silly though.

that's when I turned it off.

I liked TCSM remake, didn't like the sequel

I didn't think the F13th remake was bad at all. Lol, I took my wife to see that on Valentines day night in the theaters!

NOES was ok....I wasn't a huge fan of the new Freddy, agreed Englund was the thing that made that movie a success....

I want to see a remake of jeepers creeps, this time, do without the stupid bat creature. Also, IT would make a great remake without the stupid spider.

Also, Zombie needs to stay away from directing...he is terrible.

whatever happened to Gina Phillips?

I am probably one of the few that liked the King Kong remake.

Believe it or not, there is set to be a Part 3, with her in it.

Regarding King Kong, I assume you mean Peter Jackson's version. I thought it had potential but got too long and fairly stupid (a giant ape on ice? seriously?) The 70s version was better.

The Godzilla remake was, of course, an utter abomination. But then the guys behind it are some of the worst filmmakers in the industry today.

Regarding some others mentioned...

I don't know if I'd say Zombie (or many others these days) has a "style" other than just to throw as much gore on the screen as possible. Not a one of them seems to know how to build suspense.

None of the Amityville movies do justice to the book (long since found to be a hoax).

As a side note, Stephen King can write great stories, but I doubt he could write a decent ending even with a gun to his head.

The new Friday the 13th had Jason using a bow and arrow, among other things. Terrible.

I liked Jackie Earle Haley okay as Freddy but let's be real. Robert Englund is Freddy Kreuger and always will be. Add in that the movie overall wasn't that great. The script was weak.

Jeepers Creepers looked like one of the scariest movies ever until they introduced the psychic and the villain turned out to be a twisted take on Batman. Could have been sooooo much better.

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre was all right. Sequel looked like crap. Liked the new Fright Night a lot though. Might be one of the few remakes that I think could actually stand up to the original.

Pretty much all the sequels to the original Halloween were mostly awful, though I kinda liked that they had little Tommy Doyle grow up into an ass kicker. Generally though, only H2O was half decent, and it was followed up by that crapfest with Busta Rhymes.

For that matter, can anybody name a good horror sequel in the last few decades? I can't right now. Liked the prequel of The Thing okay, but it certainly wasn't up to the original.
