Dont count out Ingram as the Panthers first pick

I'm curious what Ingram runs at the combine, this coming from someone who doesn't value 40 times highly. Ingram's estimated 40 time on Nfl draft scout is 4.82, if he'd get somewhere closer to 4.7 or better I might have to consider Ingram if we drop back a few picks. Still a lot of time between now and the draft.

Yea I think what people are looking for is 4.6 or 4.7.His vertical will be important too.

I'm all for Defensive line help, just not a fan of Ingram. Guy seems nice and produced at USC but I get a tweener vibe from him. Short arms concern me at any position, but I think it matters a lot at DE and OT. Some might compare him to Dwight Freeney due to similar size, but I'd have to see a lot at the combine to change my opinion that he's no Freeney. I'd prefer Quinton Coples if he's available over almost every other prospect other than Morris Claiborne or Matt Kalil.

I'll go further, I'd take Quinton Coples over Morris Claiborne in a heartbeat if they both fell to 9th.

And if it wasn't already fact before, it is now - if we're taking a DE in the first, it's going to be Nick Perry who could also excel at 3-4 OLB. Bulked up to 270 as well.

How could you possibly say that is a fact?

Ingram is working out with Von Miller to learn the tricks of playing linebacker. The issue isn't whether he can rush the passer but can he play linebacker. If he can then perhaps we have our Thomas Davis replacement. His 40 time will tell us what we need to know. I would love to see him compete as a OLB instead of DE.

Yea, I'm interested a few of the LB's drill times and will probably end up watching a bit of it tomorrow. Ingram has more of a chance to succeed in the NFL at LB, At DE he's out of the league in 4-5 seasons after being a bench player.

Also his 4ty will need to be in low 4.7's to match Charles Johnson's 4ty time. To overcome his short arms, he needs to run in the 4.59-4.65 range. Look good in the position drills and show some crazy agility in the cone drills.
