Dont count out Ingram as the Panthers first pick

wouldn't go that far. for one thing his arms are about 3 inches shorter.

Really, You're going to gripe about 3 inches? You sound like my ex girlfrie-Oh wait...O_O

Anyway, look he's CJ's copy except he's faster and has 3 less inches on his arms...He's disruptive. Having those two on the field would be amazing.

Melvin Ingram

Height / Weight:

6-2 / 276

Charles Johnson

Height/Weight

6-2 / 275

I wouldn't mind it.

You do realize arm length is really important for a defensive end, right?

His arm length is 30.5". That's really short for a defensive end. I'd be surprised if he went in the first round and if we're going to go with a pass rusher, I'd take Branch and Perry over him without hesitation. Ingram is a third round prospect at best and probably no more than an Everette Brown clone.

Ingram looked pretty good here. I don't know if I'm the only one, but Jadeveon Clowney caught my eye as much as Ingram. If he bulks up that 6'6" frame and doesn't do anything stupid, he'll be a 2014 top 10 pick.

Jadeveon Clowney's 6'7, and is a true freshman, yet was doing all that. IIRC, during that game he was around 260 and still runs a 4.45. He's an absolute freak of nature, and if he improves his game each of the next 2 years, he's a guaranteed top 5 pick. His motor never lets up.

He could be what Peppers was supposed to be. A beast, yet with a continuous drive in game.

Not big enough. I don't fear Coples from a desire standpoint at all so he is a far better prospect IMO. Probably better even if you do fear his "want to" but whatever, he won't fall to us.

I want outta that slot and pick up Chandler Jones in the late 20's somehow and get our third round pick back to address the O-Line help everyone is clamoring on an on about "needing" around here.

I guess a T-Rex wouldn't make a good DE.:D

Hehe, as for the topic question, I would rather not draft Ingram unless we traded back and I thought he could be a great pass rusher from the inside at DT rather than DE. (Someone like La'Roi Glover)

agreed about importance of arm length, but i disagree about him being no more than an everette brown.

arm length is a problem, but nothing that would keep me from drafting him in the second half of the first round or on. it's a concern, but his strengths in other aspects makes up for it. he brings a whole lot more talent, size, strength, and versatility than brown did.

Man he sounds bad ass. Too bad we will have the 32nd pick that year.

I probably exaggerated on calling him Everette Brown, admittedly. But I'm not all too interested in a 6'1 defensive end with short arms. It almost never works out unless that DE in particular has Freeney speed and he's not much of a fit at 3-4 OLB either. Like I said, if we're talking DEs, give me Perry and Branch over him.

As for Clowney, he was the consensus number one football recruit coming out of High School and is an animal. Unless we're sucking that bad in 2014/2015, we won't have a shot at him. He's guaranteed to go 1-5 barring injury.

No more trading up and giving away our picks ! We will get a starter with our first pick and possibly a player rated higher will fall to us (Claiborne) . If we don't see the need to pick at #8 or #9, we might trade down like the Pats and get more picks and stay in the mid first round and still get a player of need that starts.
