i started a happy hour/networking thing over a year ago. I call it the G7 because it was 7 guys I worked with or use to. We had one mgr that joined us and he eventually moved way up to Senior VP. But the first few times I just would let him go and hear and see what made him tick.

I moved to another company but keep the G7 going and he adopted the idea with his Senior level peers. He still joins us and always pays.

Point being, you can still run the show and influence outcomes by merely letting others feel/think they are large and in charge.

Like Pstall said above, dont drink more than him. Getting wasted and acting a fool could make him think that your are not responsible for the position. Good things are happening, dont fug it up.

Yes, there is some funky stuff going on with one of the sales reps in my location and I think he is going to try to get me to talk about it. (it indirectly effects me) He is also a fairly new manager, and since he was hired, alot of people dont like him. So alot of people have been quitting or are actively looking for a new job.

In other words, I think he is going to try to booze me up in order to get some info, and also to see where my head is.

Once the liquor is in you, you know damn well where your "head" is going to be.

This guy did clean house about 6 months ago, got rid of alot of dead weight. Again, I am one of the top performers, so I dont see that happening. Also, in my company, if your gonna get fired, its not going to be in a pre-erranged meeting. I would get a call early in the morning, and be asked to come into the office asap, like everyone else who got canned. Prayers please!
