So my boss wants to take me out for "beers"

So my boss, whom lives in another state called me today wanting him to meet me in a city that is halfway from his office and mine. This will go down on Thursday night.

He asked me to bring a pair of "non-work" casual clothes, and that we were going to have a few beers, and a night out on the town....just the two of us....

Seems weird. I hope its nothing bad! (I am doing well at my job). Just seems a bit odd.

Sounds like you are doing well enough that your boss has taken notice of you. If you were already close, I could see him bring up bad news, but since he is not a local guy, he's making quite an effort to meet you, so it seems like a positive thing to me.

Yes, there is some funky stuff going on with one of the sales reps in my location and I think he is going to try to get me to talk about it. (it indirectly effects me) He is also a fairly new manager, and since he was hired, alot of people dont like him. So alot of people have been quitting or are actively looking for a new job.

In other words, I think he is going to try to booze me up in order to get some info, and also to see where my head is.
