Fox Sports discusses draft day trade of Peppers

I don't want Peppers on the team any longer. The man is just killing us this off-season and is restricting us from making any kind of moves. Give me a first round pick for the guy and I'd be ecstatic but most likely it'll be a second round pick. I don't see the guy getting double digit sacks ever again. Why not get younger at the position with a brand new defensive coordinator and solid players in place on the defensive side of the ball? The best player on our defense is Jon Beason and not Julius Peppers and I don't think anyone understands that yet.

if we washed our hands of him from the start we probably could have focused on the team and getting younger..but nooooo. Marty-boi was bitter at the snub and then got greedy. This is NOT Peppers fault and I don't know why people don't understand that yet.

how many of you would actually sign that tender right now if you were in his shoes???

here's one thing that bothers me about the whole thing. peppers is making how much money playing a game? he made $12mil last year to play a stupid game and he's not happy?????

give that big eared freak some prozac and throw him back in there.

that he isn't happy wouldn't play into my decision making. if you aren't happy making that kind of money playing a game when there are billions of people on the planet who would never see that kind of money in 10 lifetimes and thousands just dying for a chance to play at the pro level.

what he has is a privileged life...and he isn't happy.

what an idiot.

would i sign that tender? would i decide to make $17mil for one year? stupid question. absolutely. i don't care whose shoes i'm in. the real and big picture is that this punk is saying that #17 mil isn't enough to make me happy. if it isn't, find something worthwhile to do with it. if you want to disappear go to some 3rd world country and take that money and do something good.

Pity that someone feels Peppers will finish here.

Unfortunately, that's probably true.

Wonder what piss-poor teams he'll get over half his sacks against this year...there are no Lions or Raiders on the schedule.

Love to see him gone.

For the millions made, it would be nice to see a player who does not get jacked-up by Maruice Jones Drew.

A new level of hate: complaining about what teams the sacks came against...:(

I think that looking at the teams that he get his sacks against is definitely a valid point...and not hate.

Peppers racked up multiple sack games agaisnt the likes of the Raiders and the Chiefs....bad offenses. And, these were only 2 sack games. He struggled against good OL's....and often was shut down by journeymen LT's.

Im sure he's gone next year if not this year. His play has been poor for about 3 years now and its not cause he had something wrong its cause he just dose not care to be in Carolina anymore. The dude is a loner and prob never get the whole team concept.

You could really see he didnt give a rip in the Playoff game. One dude handling peppers all night and he looked like he was not even trying to get around him. I will still say with my statement we should have just let him go cause I really dont see his attitude changing all that much.

Good points but in reality its not about money at all. And not just in this case. These guys have plenty of money and we cannot look at it the same as if it were you or me. The question was who would sign it if they were in his shoes. I would sign it too, but not if I were Peppers. There is NO advantage for him signing. Anybody who says he definitely should sign it now and should have already needs to look at this a little closer. Signing the tender helps the panthers and nobody else. Sure some of you will say if he signs then we can deal him and he can get what he wants which is out. But Peppers believes and I think he is right that that opens him up to a trade anywhere and that potentially forces his hand to be the bad guy if he goes the 'trade block' route.

He has guaranteed money to the tune of a 4.6 million dollar raise from last season (according to your figure). He has and has had total control of any and all negotiations to this point. Maybe some of us think that Hurney could get a deal done faster but as already stated it also opens up the risk for trade talks to places Peppers has no interest in going. This can hurt his character and that is much worse than holding out of minicamp.

Peppers wants to go to a contender and he has designs on who those contenders are that will let him play the game he wants to play for the remainder of his career. Who can blame him? Any person at any job has to look out for number one first and that is all the guy is doing. Loyalty to the team that he completed all contractual obligations to, asked a release from, and was subsequently tagged by is asking a bit much I'd say. It's just not realistic to want this kind of loyalty much less expect it.

    • I'm going with Robinson tonight.
    • I've watched and listened to several evaluations from the good ole youtubers.  From what I was able to watch, the first few drives before I left to do a job to the end of the game were very different for Bryce.  So he had a "good" game.  Which is great.  I love a win, period.  His WRs had some drops, thing ripped away, etc.  Not great, but a W is a W, right? I think the Panthers have to start Bryce.  You have to see if he continues to build on the good plays and make fewer and fewer bad plays.  No QB is going to play a perfect game.  But we need to continue to see Bryce make plays.  Does he have the ability to will his team to victory?  I'm not sure. I'm still in the Bryce is a backup QB camp.  I'm glad he had a good game, I glad we won, but I need to see more before we make a decision to keep or trade him.  Playing Andy literally does NOTHING to help you for the future.  Andy may not even resign with the Panthers.  We could be out both starting QBs by the time FA/Draft season hits. Ultimately, this is a Dan Morgan and Dave Canales issue.  Can they get value out of Bryce to help them improve the total roster?  Is there a FA QB who would be an upgrade?  A surprise cut or post season trade?  Or is there a QB at the top of the draft who they think they can mold into a high level starting QB?  I don't know. I do know I want to see more of Bryce Young and more out of him on the field.  I want to see the fire, the competitor come out.  I want him getting pissed.  I want him to grab his beanbag and tell us all he's the f'ing dude.  I just don't think we'll see that out of Bryce.  If not the fire, then let me see the ice - let me see the rattle proof dude who kills with accuracy and playmaking no matter how hot and crazy it gets.
