Jordan wants to restore Bobcats' image

I didn't .....and still don't....like the Kemba and Bismack picks.

Kemba is an undersized guard who is not a great shooter. I think he is going to struggle to get his points.

Bismack has so little offensive ability right now. He is a major project.

I still look back at the Augustine pick as the defining moment of this franchise....the reason they are still struggling.

He is a solid guard, but we desparately needed a big man....and Lopes was sitting there. Now he is a 20+ point and 12+ rebound guy. And, we still have no inside game.

We have drafted the same player three times. Felton....Augustine...Walker. We are the Detroit Lions (when they sucked) of the NBA.

Whoa there! I agree that Lopez was the obvious pick (and it was obvious to everyone even at that time), but he sure as hell doesnt average 12 boards a game. Thats been one of the biggest problems with his game the last couple of seasons- he doesnt rebound well and he plays soft sometimes. Would have been a great addition here though.

While I agree that Walker is too similar to play effectively next to DJ, I thought he was the best player left on the board so I dont mind it.

To move a little back on topic, I think it's interesting that, in this entire thread, I don't think one person admitted they actually like the Bobcats name, color scheme, or anything else. It's a pathetic brand, and no one takes it seriously. So we can sit around and wait on Jordan to draft a superstar/nucleus of a successful team, that's fine. But in the meantime we can re-fuel the fire in the fan base at least so that more people are excited about supporting these young guys as they mature. And the Bobjohnsoncats brand just isn't going to cut it.

LOL@"refuel the fire in the fanbase". Go back to charlotteobserver.com with this man. Fire up another petition to MJ. Nobody cares about this anymore. Seriously. Its a lost cause. The Bobcats and the fans who support them are getting along just fine with the team identity. If you cant identify, go root for another team like the sorry ass NO Hornets.

Also, whether or not you think Jordan is an asshole, this SI article from a few weeks ago will make you think a little bit.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1193740/index.htm

It's about Pop Herring, Jordan's coach in high school who's most famous for "cutting" Michael from his high school team, which isn't entirely true, apparently.

The Bobcats color and logo.... I've seen students kicked out of college for less obvious plagiarism.

I don't mind the colors but the Bobcat is a less than masculine pick. Granted they are native to NC and they are tough. When you have the Panthers as the mascot for the NFL team, a bobcat just doesn't seem like a good pick. They should have went with another animal. Lets see...

Cottonmouths cause NBA players like pot. :)

Vipers---I like this one.

Carp cause this team sucks mud

Woodpeckers cause it'd be awesome to watch Sportscenter

Farmers cause the team could wear overalls

Cool.

Own season tickets for football too?

Sadly No.

Gotta continue convincing my wife that owning Season tickets for both UNCC and the Panthers is a good investment. She already gives me crap for showing up at the TG's at 7AM on Sundays. Not sure my marriage could survive being away Saturday's as well.

But, I likely will get them pretty soon.

I'm not a big fan of the Bobcats brand, I think we could have done much better. On the other hand, you can't just change the logo and alienate all fans who have spent their money on merchandise.

I just don't see how fans REALLY care about the logo or the name. Give me a quality product and you can call the The Charlotte Dildos for all I care.

Tell that to a true fan who has a trophy room with signed jerseys. Some people don't care that we sucked, and we didn't used to be this bad. Okafor, Jason Richardson, Gerald Wallace. There was hope at one point, back wehn people trusted MJ.
