With the 187th pick in the 7th rd of the 2010 NHL Draft the Carolina Hurricanes select Frederik Andersen....ok Frederik, you had your moment in the sun, enjoy it, have a nice life...........or did you??

Frederik is in his rookie season with Frolunda in the Swedish Elite League (SEL). After 35 games he is leading the league with a 1.69 GAA and a .940 SVS%. He is a huge goalie at 6'4. He beat out a top goalie prospect for the starting position. Magnus Hellburg, who was drafted with the 38th pick in the 2nd rd of the 2011 NHL draft by the Nashville Predators.

For those unfamiliar with the SEL it is the fourth best professional hockey league behind the NHL, KHL, and Czech league.

Wow... yeah he was one of those guys who I thought would fade away - into the wood work, but this is really good news! Ironically, we are in a tight spot with goalies as Wardo is out with an injury as well as Boucher, so Peters in net but no back-up because Murphy is also injured in Charlotte. Soooo, where is the extra help going to come from? Well, Ty Conklin is rumored to be placed on waivers soon, so maybe he'll be an option. Would that be funny? The guy who Rod Brind'Amour undressed at the end of Game One 2006 SCF for the winning goal playing for the team who eventually beat his Oilers for the championship? I guess he'd be joining Samsonov in that regard... but still it would be funny.
