Why the H do we need Weather/traffic on the news

Whose idea was it to incorporate these things into a news cast. IMO,the weather people people rarely get it right, and as far as traffic goes, meh....if you travel the same route to work everyday, you tend to know how long it's gonna take to get to and from work.. What does the huddle think?

Traffic is helpful if there is a backup or wreck so you can take an alternate route. Weather is important so you know what might happen for the rest of the week, or how much snow/rain is on the way. Not everyone uses the internet for this info.

I dunno, traffic is what it is, if its the way I have to go to get home, whether they report it or not, I still have to go that way. If it's a wreck, I find out about it the old fashioned way, I pass by it. Weather, yeah they might forecast what the week is going to be, but lets be honest, how often does it really turn out the way they forecast it. Me personally, I'd rather they spend that time on real news...sports...or if they have to, feel good stories...

There is always hope, we have had some pretty good debates on here about relevant things.....not saying this thread is, in fact this is more of a rant but we were able to discuss abortion in an adult manner....hey that says alot

my local CBS has a half hour news break from Mayberry everyday.

Weather and traffic is the only useful part of local news.
