We proved last year that we were only a QB away from being a much better team.

which is why I would say the 2010 Panthers were worse. They had a D, they had talent on O outside QB........and it was painful to watch. You can justify the Bobcats sucking......to this day there is no excuse for how pathetic the Panthers were in 2010. Clausen sucks but no man is that bad.

I'll give it to MJ (happy b-day) he has some big, brass ball$ to purposely tank a season when you just finished losing 25 million dollars in a market that has yet to really embrace your team in the first place. I'm not criticizing what the Bobcats are doing, I understand it, just saying it's a bold move in the case of the Bobcats vs. an established team.

The Panthers knew the fans would be back in droves, the Bobcats have no such guarantee. The level of apathy in this town towards the Bobcats during the best of years was troubling, not sure they can survive this. The saving grace is that fact that Charlotte is a very transient city, so at the very least they will be able to sell a good number of tickets to fans who want to see the opposing teams.

I'm gonna catch hell for this, but I still think it would be wise to re-brand the team as the Hornets (which would require purchasing the name from the NBA). The Hornets left under bad circumstances, but they are still loved in this town... I see much more Hornets gear then I do Bobcats gear around Charlotte. I think people would have a much easier time embracing a team in Charlotte called the Hornets, even if that team sucked as bad as the Bobcats do - just as a matter of nostalgia.

Sad part is that I don't think MJ is purposely tanking anything. He is just that inept at evaluating talent, making trades, adn drafting. Guy how no clue how to run an organization.

Unfortunately, you might be right... his track record of assembling teams certainly isn't good.

It scares me to think that Bobcats really thought they had a competitive talent level going into this season... I know they were saying that publicly, because that's what they're going to say, but I mean did they really believe that???

I prefer to think they were purposely tanking the season for a lottery pick based on all the talk about how they believe the only way they will ever get a superstar player in Charlotte is to draft one. I understand the theory, but unfortunately the NBA draft is the biggest crap shoot of all time... you have a much better chance of drafting a complete bust with a lottery pick then you do drafting the next Kevin Durant.

I actually talked myself into the idea at one point that MJ would get CP3 here (with a little help from the league) and that could possibly attract a guy like Dwight Howard. :lol:

So I guess we'll all just have to sit around with our fingers crossed and hope the Bobcats get lucky enough to draft a one-in-a-generation talent that can lead them to the promised land.

It's really easy to sit back and make fun of the Bobcats without knowing the situation. Two years ago, the Bobcats were in the playoffs. Gerald Wallace was named to the All-Star game, and they were ranked #1 in the NBA in defense. They had Raymond Felton, Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace, Tyson Chandler, Nazr Mohammed, etc. It was a good core of players... but Michael Jordan apparently wasn't content being the #7 seed, and didn't think the 7th seed justified having one of the highest team salaries in the NBA.

So he blew it up.

He traded Gerald to Portland for 2 players who never saw the floor for the 'Cats and were used to dump cap space. We let Felton walk...didn't match NY. We traded Jackson for basically nothing...beans. We were left with a bunch of nobodies... NBDL-type players who get passed from team to team like Jenna Jameson at an orgy. Everybody has had their turn with our guys...

Jordan got swindled by Portland's Rich Cho... so Jordan went out and bought Rich Cho to be the Bobcats GM. Cho is some sort of genius, they say. He managed to get the Bobcats 2 good first round picks... Bismack Biyombo was coveted by coaches around the NBA... and he's developing way faster than people think. We got Kemba Walker... he's about as expected, but has to struggle for PT with Henderson, DJ Augistin & co.

Now you take Henderson and Augustin away from the Bobcats.. 2 of their best scorers... and all they have are good rookies, scrubs, and old fat people from the Congo. (Diop...that worthless fat bastard.)

I have hope for the 'Cats. They get the #1 pick, almost undoubtedly...damn lottery. Things are only going to get better, because they sure as hell can't get worse.

Is there one that could get them to .375-.400 ball next season? If not, not only is the question presented by the OP answered, more questions about the Bobcats ownership need be asked.

I don't think MJ has the cash necessary to float an NBA team. He's rich sure, but not Bob rich and Bob played Moneyball.

The better future for the Cats is if Chuck Muthafvk Barkley buys a piece and it would get better still if Tiga Tiga Woods Y'all would throw in as well. Then the Cats would be the coolest example, perhaps the epitome of the bad boy toy. With the possibility of high stakes tables soon available in Cherokee, why not?

At least with the Panthers they were guaranteed to have the top overall pick. The Bobcats are only guaranteed a top 4 pick.

the bobcats are a disgrace to the NBA and more importantly to the great city of Charlotte.

They should be dissolved and Jordan should be barred from ever owning a team again.

I haven't watched one game this year and don't plan on that changing.

I always wondered what would be necessary to change to overall pysche of the bobcats. I don't know which one was harder to watch. That is tough. I watched every game last year for the panthers waiting for the light bulb to turn on with the offense but it never happened. I'm just glad those days are over. Hopefully the bobcats will get better
