exactly no team buys into what Kiper, McShay or Mayock thinks. i went to a coaching clinic and Jay Cullen ex Jags DL coach called all draftniks a joke. he said how they gave them a bad grade and said they reached for Tyson Alualu with the 10th pick. but he ended up having a decent rookie season and they all changed their minds after the season. he also said you dont wait, you take your guy when your pick comes up.

Most draft niks are always working on an agenda. An example would be to get more hits for their website. Most of them are like what NJP wants to be and copy others scouting reports and change a few a words around to make it seem like their own. I do appreciate some (Gil Brand is my personal favorite) because they provide news and updates and have an informed opinion.

In addition every team has their own scouting teams, front offices, etc. and no 2 teams are likely to view any if not all players in the same light because of this. But theres no harm in reading and studying what they say as long as you take everything with a grain of salt.

i agree, i still read what they say and compare my info with theirs. and i do think that Gil is the best considering he put together some pretty good teams.

Not only the fact that he's built good teams and has more experience in the field than anyone that I know, the dude has no agenda. He's as genuine as they come with his analysis.

Agree on Gil Brandt. What makes him so great is his encyclopedia knowledge of all the draft players and little things like their hometowns and where they went to high school and little details. Just ask him about a player or situation and he seems to know things few other people do. He must do hours of research everyday to be on top of things like he is, He was one of the few people who came out very pro Cam Newton last year from the start. I respect his opinion as much as anyone.

Two things people need to realize is that 1) Draftniks do what they do for fans, not teams. I doubt any of them seriously thinks even one teams gives their analysis even a tiny bit of consideration when making their draft boards. 2) These draftniks do not have anywhere near the resources or access that teams do. No matter how many "sources" a guy has, it's nothing compared to what an NFL team has...not to mention the many doors that are opened to teams that remain closed to even the highest profile draftnik.

So I don't really get why so many people take their opinions so personally when they say something they don't like. Maybe their expectations are higher than they should be. But for me, I just take each player analysis as another piece to the puzzle that will allow me to better understand that player. Expecting any of them to be 100% (or even close) accurate will do nothing but lead to disappointment and annoyance.

Yeah this is all correct. People also need to realise that different teams evaluate players differently. One team's top 10 can be radically different from another's which will again be different to a third team's. Because of this I agree that you should just go by your own scouting and just pick your guy when your time comes, don't just pray that he'll be there later. Honestly, those of you who say things like "draft a DT in the first and just wait for the CB in the 2nd" or "if there isn't a CB in the 1st 2 rounds, I don't like it" are honestly living in an oversimplified fantasy world. The draft's just way messier than that.
