Mayock hits all the Huddle sore spots; Luck vs. Newton, AJ, and Coples

As I said in one of my earlier posts, Sanchez, McCoy and others had great rookie campaigns. Dalton is someone I am not sold on either. He is short and an overachiever. He will need a great running game to be a good QB. I thought defenses were figuring him out by the second half of the season.

Again, you will be judged as a great pick after your second and third season. I could not be more pleased with how Cam played this past season. I am in hopes (as Mayock mentioned in one of his pre draft conversations) that Cam is the first guy in the gym, leads the rest of the team by example in offseason drills, etc. I think it is a good thing that he is in Charlotte and not somewhere like NYC. But again, I would think that for all rookies who get big money. Sanchez got hyped and now is getting ripped apart. Lots of distractions there.

I would not if I were a Gamecock fan, think that mayock was racist because he dissed Alshon.

Just because Alshon is 239 lbs and might run a 4.65 and cannot get separation(all facts) does not mean that Mayock is saying he is a black slob who does not work hard enough to keep the weight off.

I love the fact that whenever someone mentions Tom Brady this off season, I wont get sick to my stomach that the pats got another ring. . . sigh. . . blissful.

Regarding the current discussion, I gotta say you have to go with whoever is most proven and right now that is clearly Cam. There are so many things that could go wrong with Luck that are completely out of his control, same goes for RG3. Even if they are what many think they are.

Many people questioned Cams commitment to the game.

They sure did.

Now ask yourself... why?

After a year out in the middle of Texas nowhere at Junior College leading his team to a national championship... why?

After a year at an SEC school leading his team to an SEC Championship and a BCS Championship... why?

And, now, STILL Mayock questions after a year of intense workout and study and a record breaking rookie season... why?

Why the questions? The proof is in the pudding that this kid has WORKED HIS ASS OFF for over three years now and, to people like Mayock, "questions" remain.

Why?

The fact that you equate someone questioning an athlete's work ethic to being a racial remark proves only ONE thing....that you are likely a racist.

Cam's success WAS due to his unique skillset....and Chud's ability to really create a unique offense. Cam will have to continue to develop as a passer, because defense WILL adapt to some of the things that he was able to do. It is in NO WAY a guaranteed racially motivated remark.

Mayock very well may be a racist, but it is still SAD that so many STILL claim racism if anyone questions Cam.

Not sure if you're fuging serious or not, yeah Cam didn't work his ass off to learn the playbook, adjust his throwing motion, accuracy, doesn't watch hours of film which also helps progress as a QB. Yeah it's ALL Chud.

Jesus.

Also, fug anyone who is saying we're pitiful and butt-hurt about being riled up by Mayock's comments.

We're good fans. We're going to defend our Rookie of the Year, record setting QB when a draft analyst comes out and says he would take an unproven talent over a guy who quite possibly had the greatest rookie season in NFL history. A guy who also predicted Gabbert a better QB and Clausen a more pro-ready QB.

missed the point.

he's talking about newton there and not dalton because no one expects the things from dalton that they are expecting from newton, luck, and RG3.

they aren't asking that question because no one cares. they just aren't interested in him. after this year he's just another starting QB. no one cares.

mehh...i'm done with this whole lame discussion.

have fun at it. i know how you guys love the drama.

No...I get the point. I have not called Mayock a racist or even pulled the race card. I am simply asking how people can question, in 2012, his work ethic.

Exactly, it would have been the same reaction if someone said the same thing about Jon Beason or Steve Smith.

One year, one year, one year

If Cam gets frustrated......he has shown he will get lazy with his mechanics which hurts his performance.....he has also shown that he will quit leading at times and sulk. Can't argue that.

Now, Cam can work out all day and study all day.....but that stuff also falls under the "work ethic" umbrella. Cam can't do that anymore. It CAN be questioned.

I don't like it when the race card is played.

In this case however, what other reason for this criticism is there? Cam has proven himself. Period.

IF he continues to work hard? Really? Can't that be said for every single person in every single thing ever done? Why single out Cam Mayock?

Luck may be good... he may be really good... he may be the next Peyton Manning... we just don't know yet.

How can you say you would choose a kid that MIGHT do it... when you have a guy that HAS done it?

F*ck Mayock.
