Mayock hits all the Huddle sore spots; Luck vs. Newton, AJ, and Coples

Peyton Manning isn't the most talented guy on the field. He is a hellva QB. Big difference.

Cam Newton in college.....was the most talented guy when he stepped on the field. Cam Newton single handedly could take over a game. Talent around him, scheme, etc......didn't really matter. That actually is a rare thing. Cam Newton could run and throw and make an entire defense look silly. When an athlete is that gifted......it flat out can create an unknown about how hard he works (b/c frankly he doesn't have to work hard to embarass many).

Meh... There are some who say that a lot of hard work goes into being able to do those things.

It also depends on how you define talent at the QB position. Peyton has the gift of arm, accuracy, and superior football IQ. Not may guys have those talents.

To me "talented" at the QB position isn't just ability to run or being athletic

My wording was possibly poor or confusing.

You could only say ONE of those about Cam. You could say BOTH about Luck.

Cam was the best athlete when he stepped on the field each week in college. Neither, had a great cast.

luck had a great cast.

and harbaugh...

I personally don't like Mayock. I believe he's an elitist snob. His shallow and judgemental attitude towards Cam only adds to my dislike.

Also, racism is not a figment of one's imagination. Stop acting as if someone has to use the "n" word for them to have their motives questioned. At last check racism is alive and well because one race still dominates and that is the race who dictates.

Simply stating the facts.

No, you are simply stating your opinion.

Racism is definitely alive....both ways.

And, Mayock may very well be a racist....I have no idea as I do not personally know the guy.

However, to make a blanket statement that the reason he questions Cam is because Cam is black is ridiculous.

The problem is not about questioning Cam but what he is questioning Cam about...work ethic.

After last year there is no way it can still be questioned. But for Mayock it can be...why?

Why cant he talk about his accuracy issues or footwork. Nope it's his work ethic.

I am saying when a college kid is the BEST athlete on the field.....he can dominate. He can do that with a crappy work ethic or a great one. We know that can happen. Therefore, when you are looking at one of THOSE players coming into the NFL you do have questions about how hard they work b/c there talent is just so good.

Couldn't disagree more.

When EVERY person (teammates, coaches, trainers) around you says that your are (as I said earlier) first-in-last-out and the guy who organized the offseason informal work-outs and practices... and every person at TWO SEPARATE PLACES (Blinn, Auburn) gives that same view, then a scout/coach/GM is one lazy, unprepared, stupid sumbitch to assume "gosh, I saw the SEC Championship Game and he made it all look so easy... therefore he must be lazy because he doesn't have to work hard due to his outstanding athletic ability."

That is preposterous. Like I've repeated in this thread, BAMF and HURNEY did not do that. They damned well did their work and made an INFORMED decision rather than an IGNORANT one.

But honestly that was answered when he arrived at Auburn and initiated practices with the receivers before they were even allowed to officially practice. That was never an issue brought up by coaches, staff or anyone at Blinn or Auburn. There were surely other legitimate issues but work ethic wasn't one of them.

Tiger beat me to it with the same thoughts. great minds.....

Good lord, you are sensitive and delusional. Let me put this in simpler terms.

Cam Newton continuing to work hard is NOT A FACT because it has NOT HAPPENED YET. We EXPECT him to CONTINUE working hard because he has proven to everyone that he has the work ethic. Because Cam continuing to work hard is NOT A FACT, Mayock QUESTIONS whether it will happen or not. If something is NOT A FACT, it is okay to QUESTION it. Mayock does not add his opinion in any way, shape, or form to the question. You are looking into nothing.

Kinda like the nosy neighbor that talks to your wife... "Was that your husbands car I saw parked out in front of Mama-San's Massage yesterday? I'm not saying it was... I'M JUST ASKING A QUESTION!"

In other words, by ASKING some questions you've already provided what you think is the answer.

Do you remember that "honest" question being asked of Ben Roethlisberger after his rookie year? Sam Bradford? Eli Manning? Mark Sanchez? Andy Dalton?

No, you are looking at this too personal in regards to Cam and not the big picture of it.

You can't argue the fact that GREAT athletes can dominate and produce in college.......on raw talent alone and questionable work ethic. Doesn't mean they all do it. But the fact these great athletes CAN and DO IT.......presents those concerns.

Cam had people who spoke highly of him. Yes. HOWEVER, you only had a pool of people who spent a couple months around him. That is where the school jumping hurts him. Fair or unfair, there is a big difference between taking the word of a coach who had been with a kid 3 years vs. a couple months.

The media is not going to do what Rivera/Hurney/JR did in terms of finding out the truth. They shouldn't be expected to go to those lengths. Based on Cam's talent and little history w/ coaches........the unknown and questions the media had were not that crazy.

look, I am one that supported Cam #1 overall when half this board was split. I loved the pick then, begged for it, and love the results.

all I am saying, is some questions raised at draft time.......were not out of line. It was understandable. That doesn't mean the question raised was correct. Doesn't mean I didn't argue against it at the time.

My point is only that one a guy is in a Panther uniform, people are too defensive.
