Mayock hits all the Huddle sore spots; Luck vs. Newton, AJ, and Coples

and there are some who can't put what was said last offseason behind them. A lot of great things are being said about Cam now. There are people who question if Gabbert's flaws can EVER be fixed now. He just gets little air play b/c no one gives a poo about him now.

None of those guys have Cam's potential and therefore will never be judged as harsh.........and that basic principle has nothing to do with race.

I think people are overracting to the current "work ethic" question. The question is always raised when unique athletes have success.......and how will they perform once teams begin to gameplan more for them. That was brought up every week this year for WHITE The Golden Calf of Bristol. What will happen when teams gameplan for the Denver gimmick The Golden Calf of Bristol offense as time goes on? Can The Golden Calf of Bristol and Denver adjust and see success?

My point totally blew by you. Not your fault; I may not have stated it clearly enough.

The questions about Newton (i.e. work ethic) are questioning who he is as a person, not who he is as a QB. Contrast that with those that question the skills of other QB's. That is the difference.

Question Cam all you want for his talent/skill/play. No problem. But there is no reason to continue to question him as a person.

I just hope that Cam keeps proving people wrong.

Don't get excited too much either way on what analysts think. Some are right...some are wrong...it's always a gamble. People react/mature differently from high school to college and college to professional, so it's hard to measure who's going to turn out.

Would any of you all put your head on the line to ensure you got 100% accuracy on all draft prospects? Don't think so. Not defending Mayock, but I'm thinking he's simply making that statement to cover for any sophomore slump Cam may/may not experience and how he'll react. I'll listen to Mayock's combine reports any day though simply because he goes through/covers things you just don't hear from everyone. There's a reason the NFL hired him.

well, I don't read what Mayock just said as a personal blow to who Cam is as a person.

That my in part be b/c #1 I don't care what Mayock thinks about that, #2 b/c as long as Cam isn't a criminal I could care less about who he is as a person. As long as Cam is good at football and gets his teammates respect.....I am good with that.

I want him to be great so that the pro game continues to be entertaining.

I agree, but is there really anything special about Luck? Other than looking like he just crawled of the old Mtn Dew can? Based on one year...Cam looks like he will be changing the way the QB position will be played in the future.

It really is amazing how polarizing Cam Newton is and this thread is just more proof of that.

I don't really think this thread has ANYTHING to do with whether Cam is polarizing. It has more to do with the fact that some people consider ANY criciticism that is made against a player (who happens to be black) is ALWAYS a racial attack.

Mayock's comment (whether you agree with his assessment or not) was NOT based on race.

As the draft gets closer I think you will have more and more analysts questioning if maybe RG3 is a better pick than Luck and what you said is a big reason for that.

Some people see him as their personal Elvis or Jesus and get weak in the knees about him......the rest of us see him as a great football player we are glad to have on our team.

Mayock said he would go number one, but was in no way a once in a lifetime QB.

Luck may be from Stanford, but he looks like he should be from WVU, or a cave.

Who the hell finds that offensive? Where did you get that?

By actually talking to people and listening to people. Hell three people in my own family find it offensive but loved it when Rodgers did his belt thing at the time. When I brought up this very hypocrisy to them their response was "Well Rodgers isn't cocky like Cam." LOL

I imagine that everyone but Giants fans would agree with him because it's true.

You've decided to make Newton a victim and are going to see everything in that light....it's absurd.

It is actually the people who are not victims that usually play the victim card.

"Reverse racism!!" 'Why do you blame me for my ancestors??" "Why are blacks overly sensitive?" "You just think he's a victim!!"

I never said Cam was a victim per se. Just noting the realities of society.

Just for fun, it would be interesting to see how the opinions on this issue line up with the opinions on Cam pre-draft.

At least some of the loud voices against Cam last year have shown up in this thread as well.

I guess my question is this...does what Cam did over the last 10 months not change your opinion of who he is as a QB and who he is as a person? If not, why not, and what must he do to get your full support?
