Scratch Alabama safety Mark Barron from the NFL Scouting Combine workouts. When the week of tests and trials begins Feb. 22 in Indianapolis, Barron will be recovering from double hernia surgery, according to media reports.

Barron is expected to need two months to recover from the surgery, which was done in January. It is doubtful he will be able to take part in testing when Alabama holds its Pro Day session on March 7.

I've seen this guy predicted as high as 14th to Dallas (in Kipers 2.0 Mock, thanks rayzor). If he fell to the 8/9 pick of round 2, would you guys want to take him given his injury history?

doesn't really bother me. not crazy about taking a FS in the first couple rounds but if he were the best option, sure.

While I'm not big on taking a FS either, I feel like Martin regressed last year and was a huge hindrance to our defense. Plus it'd be nice to draft a safety and play him at safety instead of constantly having position-change projects.

I agree we need an upgrade from martin, but I would rather bring in a vet who can come in and play right away.
