I like Gettis and hope he becomes a baller at WR, but his biggest game as a rookie where he accumulated half of his stats came against SF (which had probably the worst secondary in the league two years ago), and had Matt Moore throwing to him, not Jimmy Clausen. So you can't really use the "he was awesome even with Jimmy throwing him the ball" argument, because he was wildly mediocre the rest of the games.

gotta love the facts here

another nice stat game was w/ BSP. Gettis really did diddly w/ Clausen. LaFell had the only memorable catch w/ Clausen

Gettis 2010 - 37 receptions 508 yards, 13.7 avg, 3 TDs

Lafell 2011 - 36 receptions, 613 yards, 17.0 avg, 3 TDs

How exactly does it matter how Gettis did in his rookie season compared to Lafell's rookie season? Lafell is playing better now than Gettis did in his rookie season (yeah yeah more time to develop blah), and how Lafell is playing now kinda matters right now. It's not a what-if situation like with Gettis, Lafell is proving himself right now. Why put all our hype into our WR corps next season on Gettis when Lafell is just as worthy of said hype and then some? Did everyone forget about Lafell?

I always wonder what he could have done this year if he wouldn't have gone down on an injury..

probably about the same since he would have been learning the system with LaFell and while Legs ShaNana would still be showing them the ins and outs.

Wow, there are gonna be a lot of disappointed people around here when Gettis doesnt start next year huh?
