I don't often agree w/ Gantt.......but I do on TD. I don't think he rushed back. I just don't think his body can't hold up to what TD can get it to do. Gantt said TD was just too fast, strong, explosive.....not all bodies can handle that type stuff. I think TD's body has said enough is enough.

This sums up why I think TD was coming back too quickly from his second surgery.

http://www.thescore.com/home/articles/45619-panthers-lb-thomas-davis-runs-40-yard-dash-in-4-47-seconds-after-knee-surgery

Not six months after the Carolina Panthers weakside linebacker underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Davis recently was clocked running the 40-yard dash in a stunning 4.47 seconds.

Why are you going all out to run a 40 less than 6 months after ACL surgery? While he didn't re-injure himself during it, I am sure it didn't help and it goes to show you how hard he was going on that knee.

Here is a guideline for ACL recovery:

http://www.acl.us/recovery.htm

ACL surgery recovery time

ACL injuries regardless of whether they require surgery necessitate “time off” so the ACL and other affected portions of the knee can heal. If surgery is necessary, patients are usually directed to wear a knee brace and/or use crutches. In rare situations where other injuries exist, an above the knee case (AKC) may be needed. The brace and crutches are generally utilized for the first six weeks after surgery. During this time, rehabilitation through physical therapy will occur. A typical timeline (after surgery) for patients to do the following activities is:

rest, ice, elevation, compression—2-4 weeks (occurs during the 2 weeks after surgery)

walking and biking—12 weeks

running—6 months

competitive sports—no earlier than 8 months (9-12 months typical)

If you have had multiple or a serious ACL injury, your recovery time may be prolonged. Remember, if a patient attempts to resume “normal” activities too quickly, the ACL may not fully heal and additional surgery may be necessary. Athletes should be careful to follow their doctor and surgeon’s advice. Returning to a competitive sport too early may cause permanent damage to your ACL, causing your mobility to be irreparably harmed.

He was on FNZ a couple weeks back. Said he and TD were going hard 6 days a week. The doctors told him because he sat out a year he just added 5 more to his career. He said they cleared out all of the tendonitis and spurs that were the problem. Everything is attached working and hes at about 85% right now. Expects to be a full go by training camp. Will probly miss OTA's and mini camps. Sounds Good to me...

Sweet!

ooo thread hijacking in progress, threads about Beas but I would like to add anyways. .

How many times do you need to be reminded that:

1) youre not doctors

2) you dont have the body of a pro athlete

3) you havent ever injured yourself in the way that these guys do.

4) you know nothing (xray or mri) of the actual damage, just video footage of the play

edit: The chance of tearing your acl three times is the same fluke of odds that makes flipping a coin and landing on heads 10 times in a row feasible. I understand there is concern, but be honest to yourselves as fans and stop being so fanatic. The odds that TD comes back are the exact same as Gettis'.

I have torn my ACL in HS, and had a friend that tore his in college. I wasn't able to do anything sports related for 11 months, his was a bit shorter bc he was playing College Fball, so he actually had rehab most days. Surgically repairing the ACL over and over does weaken it however. Similar to welding together 2 pieces of metal that have been broken. The weld is rarely as strong as the parent metal.

on twitter a couple of weeks ago he said "enough of all the talk! u din;t even entertain words. It;s unfortunate what happened 2 me this yr. just know this, someone's gonna pay!" sounds like he is ready and cant wait to get back on the field. Wonder who we will make pay

So you wonder who he will make pay?

Jimmy Graham, Drew Brees, Colston, Sproles, Meachem, the whole Saints team, FUG them....... and the rest of our opponents.....
