Feds Give Charlotte $70 Million for Light Rail

I find this awesome. The extension will go all the way to UNCC. I can take the light rail to a panthers game or a UNCC football game etc.

read the article, when they get final approval, feds will give them $450 million, half of what it will cost.

Wait wasn't it suppose to go their anyways? I thought when they started it the idea was already to have it go to Uncc. Or is it another 485 where it's made in south Charlotte first, ran out of money and now south charlotte wants it bigger before it moves north?....

It was a lot more costly to run it all the way to 485, so they decided to stop it at the university instead.

Isn't there always some kind of drama when those party buses from UNCC go uptown? Hopefully security is stepped up for those college kids.

Well I can tell you from more experience than I care to admit that most students drive home after going out in uptown because a cab is like $27 each way.
