Sophomore Slump

Catalyst

Recommended Posts

The team aired it out a lot last year, and Rivera even said they wanted Cam to learn the offense by throwing it a lot. I don't think there will be a slump, but I do think his passing yards will drop sunstantially, only because I see us utlizing the run a lot more than we did last year. Cam won't be able to throw for 4,000+ yards when we have both Williams and Stewart eclipsing eight or nine hundred each.

If all you care about is Cam coming in next season and smashing all of his previous records to sh*t, getting 3000 yards in week 3, getting a 15 year contract extension in week 6, having us trade for Drew Brees so he can be a backup just to show how good Cam is, then yeah you're probably gonna be disappointed. If you care about slightly more important stuff like winning games, then you're probably worried about other things instead.

Sophomore slump?

Manning didn't have one. Brady didn't have one. Marino didn't have one.

QB performances fluctuate year-to-year. Cam's may be slightly better, or it may be slightly worse, and either would be normal.

He could also have a horrible year or the best year of any QB all-time.

I just don't buy the whole sophomore slump thing, any more than the Madden curse. It is a phenomenon based on anecdotal data, not reality.

teams will most certainly be better prepared to handle him come next year, but that's why Cam is working his ass off to be that much better

I think next year will have its ups and downs for Cam. As others have said though, I'm much more concerned with the defense.

I think next year will have its ups and downs for Cam. As others have said though, I'm much more concerned with the defense.

Teams already later in the year had enough tape on him to stop him, especially with rushing 4 and dropping 7, but not all teams have the talent to drop 7, and rush 4 and still get to Cam. With our running game, we will force their hand, then hit them over the top with playaction.

What Def our we playing next year that can stop us?

Giants, they have the a great Dline that can run that scheme,

Cowboys, they going to bring heat and rely on the DB's to cover man to man.

Redskins, we smoked them already.

Eagles, Dline can get after the QB with the front 4, not sold on their DC, being able to out play call Chud. Plus that wide 9 they run will get killed with our running game.

Raiders, aint they releasing the whole team.? LOL

Denver, come on man we all know Fox, that Def looked good vs average to bad offenses, but got destroyed in most of their losses.

KC, they did give GB their 1st loss last year, IMO GB played like they did vs the Giants in that game, drop passes, mental errors, was a off game for GB. but i can't see them being that good on DEF.

Chargers, since RR left their DEF has been going down hill, after being top 5 or 10 last few years, now we switch DB coaches, an upgrade IMO, that game will be tough too many inside info for each team.

Settle, their DEF is a lot better than a lot of people give them credit for, but i can't see it their offense keeping up with us,

Bears, we loss to them in that Tampa 2 scheme,

Saints, who know what DEF they will run, but even if we put up 30 points we still could lose both games, better chance will be at home vs them.

Bucs, LOL,

Falcons, DEF adjusted to us twice last year, one after we had a double digit lead, maybe we sweep them next season, that def is decent but not that good, IMO.
