He was ok on 3rd downs every now and then. It always looked like he was pessimistic on the field .. he played defeated.

Jenkins is practically jogging while covering Alshon when he gets that pick... this is what it's going to be like every week in the NFL.

Alshon looks like he's running in slow motion.

A better thrown ball would have resulted in a completion, but I agree Alshon looks slow.

The only way Jarrett could contribute is to go over the middle - it's the one place where he could use his size like a glorified TE, but he didn't like the punishment he was taking.

...and Sidney Rice is an excellent route runner, that makes up for a lack of speed.

Alshon's gig is to run down the field and you fling the ball at him, he'll use his size/strength to go up and get it - that won't work in the NFL.

I think that is how his time in the nfl will look .. he will have corners right on him a lot of the time .. but what sets him apart is his ability to go up and take a ball that is thrown well enough for him to have a shot at it. And you can see it on the screen passes he has the quick first step to make a move up field. We are literally looking at only straight line speed as a disadvantage and maybe some of his short route running abilities.

Larry Fitz and Andre Johnson disagree .. as they came into the NFL slow with the ability to come up and make the play. He can get faster as Fitz has done over the years. All that's left is to wait and see.

He got stuffed on that screen pass, wasn't even able to use his size/strength to beat the smaller defender.

We're not just talking about straight-line speed, in general he's slow and runs sloppy routes... bad combination in the NFL.

He was gang tackled on that but I understand where you are coming from. There are 2 more screen passes on that video and when its man on man he gets by his guy just fine.

Both those guys have more athleticism in their pinky finger then Alshon has in his whole body. You're comparing him to two of the most freakish/gifted athletes in the NFL, that's how they compensate for a lack of speed.

Unless Alshon plans on becoming a 10x better athlete, he's in big trouble.
