I honestly don't understand why everyone keeps saying WR is a need during the draft... with Smitty, Lafell, Gettis, and if we resign LA or get another decent FA WR, thats a pretty solid group of receivers...

LA might not be back, Gettis is coming off an acl tear, and you said bring in another WR through FA or you can draft one. doubt they do both, but this team needs another WR.

Lafell hasn't done squat this year. He was great last year though.

More Touchdowns, more yards, Better YAC ratio, played more games didn't decline on anything.. yet he didn't do squat this year? I repeat, WHAT!? :skep:

I am glad LaFell got out of Rivera's doghouse and really stepped it up as the year progressed. Hopefully he can avoid repeating whatever problems he had and come out of the chute at full bore this year. I suspect that Gettis will push him as will any other FA or draft acquisitions. Competition hopefully brings out his best and the best in everyone. Having the offense come out dynamically while the defense limits the opponents is our best opportunity to win early and often this year.

Had anyone been more clutch this year? He's had great hands and awareness this season and seems to make the big catch when it counts. I don't know where to find the stats but I'd put my money on him converting more 3rd and longs than any other receiver on the team. He get's my clutch pick. I also think he deserves the #2 spot going into next year. I love Gettis but Lafell is just on fire.

I posted a bunch of receiver stats about everyone on our team in this in a thread I made earlier about every position on the team. Anyway heres the stats from that thread

Williams -30, 1.625

and now have a look at who racks up the most yards after the catch.

Stewart 11.04yards(mostly screens as his average air yard was -2)

Williams, 10.31 yards

Lafell, 6.2 yards

Smith, 5.9yards

Shockey 5 yards

Olsen, 4.7 yards

Naane, 3.9 yards

as you can tell Lafell was Cam's 2nd favorite option over the course of the season and his 2nd most productive in terms of yards. I am happy with the production of everybody he targeted with the exception of Naane.
