Wife went there to visit some friends about 8 years ago. She had a great time visiting the culture and snorkeling. Our friends were living in a nice rental provided by their employer and they had planned her stay with plenty of events plus they knew what parts of the island were safer from crime. Armed robbery of tourists is not uncommon so just don't go wandering.
