To me its going to be the best DT or offensive tackle Reiff. It appears the Jags will get Couples and Kirkpatrick is dropping down everyones board.Unless the combine shoots someones stock up or down that is who we have to choose from.To me Brockers has the most upside if you like a dt

still early in the process, so right now no one knows.even the FO.
I agree. But let's pay tribute where it is due an honor those who at least pretend to know more than our GM in Bud style:

Here's to you, Huddler, O sage of the NFL general manager and master of the unknown. Your prophetic wisdom needs no reason or explanation of any related logic, because you are in the know. When others speculate that we might need to protect our franchise QB better in 2012, you intellectually dismiss the fact that Cam Newton faced more pressures than 30 other NFL QBs. Your knowledge is so intense that only you have the confidence to disregard the fact that our LT is 32, our RT has played 4 games in 2 years and will be wanting a contract in 2013, and an undrafted rookie with a holding problem and an inability to effectively run block are our top 3 OTs. Your extreme intellectual capacity leads you to ignore the realization that Wharton is probably a cap casualty, and that cutting him, our only qualified reserve LT, would leave the cupboard bare, but would free up about $5 million in cap space to spend on a reasonalbly-priced FS and OLB. Here's to you, O beacon of Panther needs, because only you see the truth, that we must use the draft and the draft only to address our immediate needs on defense, and that since defense is our weak spot, that makes it more important than protecting the Franchise QB. This Bud is for you, Huddler.

I think Rieff, Blackmon, Coples, and Brockers are the top prospects that may still on the board at 8/9. Other players I could see us being interested in with that top pick are Still, Martin, Kirkpatrick, DeCastro and Jenkins.

It's early though, so there might be someone else who sneaks up there.

I wouldn't be surprised if we go for a OLB either at that pick. Also, I wouldn't rule out a Tackle that high up either.

I don't think the value is there for OLB. Best 4-3 OLB is probably Brown and I don't see him being a top 10 guy. If you call Upshaw an OLB I think an argument can be made, but I think he would be more of a DE in our scheme.

At this point and time I'm waiting for the combine to pass judgement on who is the BPA, it's too early for me to decide, but position wise, it should be on the defensive side of the ball, LB, CB or safety. with Edwards coming back, and how Neblett, Kearse and Shirley played after McClain and Fua went down I think we are okay with the DT for now.

Who has the perceived value to fit at 8/9 pick?

Coples-yes

Rieff-yes

Brockers- close, gets a yes

DeCastro-close, gets a yes

After that, we would be reaching with Jenkins, Still, Martin, Z Brown, Kirkpatrick.

At this point, if you include Blackmon, you might as well include Claiborne. Neither will be there when we pick.

Couples and Blackburn will have to fall during the combine to fall to us.At this point it is OT or DT... you can speculate OLB but I dont see it happening. If is a DT I hope it is not Still being the big guy has already had knee problems. My guess it will be Reiff at this point.
