Whitney Houson dies at age 48

I don't think Jesus would have said that.

Let's say it was an OD of some type. Lots of people die every year from poisoning themselves with alcohol and other substances.

Where are the tears for them? Where are the threads for them? Just because she had a voice? Because she was famous? Since when did we start putting price tags on people?

Reminds me of when Michael Jackson died.

Her exemplary, astonishing, once in a generation voice changed everything in life for her....it didn't appear to be for the better despite all the money and fame. Whitney Houston was as big of a star as any female singer ever, yet she suffered from addiction. God bless her and her family.

Reminds me of Amy Winehouse's death. A singer who had ONE hit, a song about refusing to go to rehab, was the talk of the town. Everybody knew about it, the press covered it, etc etc.

That same f*cking week, 94 Norwegians were massacred, mainly kids at a summer camp.

I understand the coverage for Michael and Whitney, because I'm sure they indirectly impacted the lives of millions, but it is kinda ridiculous sometimes.

I don't want to sound like her death does not matter. It does. She had a talent that is valued by our society. I'm sure she impacted many people (maybe some profoundly, but seriously, most people aren't that into music or other media).

It just seems like our society is putting way too much value into famous people.

But we don't know if it made things worse for her though. Maybe she becomes a addict even if she doesn't become famous.

I don't actually get people being upset of her death. Yes, she was a great talent, but she was, most likely, someone that had very little to do with your actual life. You may have liked her music, but she didn't change your life in any way. It's the same with any celebrity.

The stupid thing to me is this. This morning on CNN, a news story ran talking about the uptick in Tweets after the news of Whitney's death broke. I'm sorry, but an increase in Tweets about someone's death (famous or not) is not news. Stop trying to make it seem like it is. It's stupid.
