RG? RT? or both?...

Is our offensive line perfect? No. But with Schwartz at RG and Otah or Bell or G. Williams at RT, our offensive line is by no means a major weakness.

I just don't understand the mindset that we have to throw all of our resources at the offensive side of the ball. Our O was top 10 all year with a rookie QB.

Personally, I don't want to sit through another year feeling like we have to score every time we touch the ball to have a chance.

Okay You state they can not play well against playoff caliber defenses, lets look.

Deangelo Williams

Detroit:7.3 ypc

Greenbay: 2.6 ypc (only 5 carries)

Houston:4.1 ypc

New Orleans:(2 games)10.5 ypc

and in the divison he avergaed 7.3 ypc

So to recap they both played well against every playoff level team we faced last year with the exception of the Green Bay Shootout.

They also killed it in our own division, which we all know how important that is in a playoff race.

Most of our run success game from running outside. More specifically, away from Hangartner and Bell. When it came to running up the middle and towards Bell's side, we were 23rd and 24th in the league.

Why should we care where our success comes from as long as the total system works? Every team in the cap era has weaknesses. The trick is to manage the whole so you put a winning product on the field. Typically, this is achieved with balance, not by stockpiling talent on just one side of the ball.

so you're saying it wasn't as successful on the the side that had starting 1) a vet who got signed after training camp and 2) a rookie starting most of the year?

you don't say.

can't imagine that a full offseason would improve them any or that bringing back 2-3 IRed guys back would help any.

Why should we care? lol Why should we care about improving our team? Why care about making the playoffs anyway? We all just like watching men running around a field for no apparent reason.....Point is, keep this mindset and you won't be able to beat the elite teams in the league.

Schwartz and Hangartner, it really doesn't matter. They about the same. They're both solid, but Im not sure about being full time starters. Hangartner was a starter for the Bills so it wasn't like he was coming in here completely dumbfounded. Otah hasn't played a full season since we drafted him. Yes I would like to think of him as being our answer at RT. But the truth is that he isn't dependable. Bell is good, but I don't think he is good enough be a full time starter again. Our right side is a big question mark.

Of course we care about improving the team. The problem is, this isn't Madden. We have limited resources, both cap-wise and draft-wise. Sure, give us an extra $40 million under the cap, or an extra 1st round pick, and let's go get the best RT and RG we can get. But the problem is we don't have that leeway.

Our defense is severely lacking in talent at a number of positions, and it showed in their performance last year. We can't keep signing scrubs on D while throwing 1st and 2nd round picks on O, and expect to get to the promised land.

This year, the D needs the lion's share of our resources. Keep looking for late round gems for the o-line, and maybe sign a guard or tackle in FA if a steal comes along, but that is as far as I would go.

I do remember that toward the end of the year Rivera stated that Otah was doing everything they were asking him to do. If the was true, and holds true. We MAY be ok.

Schwartz was a capable starter before his injury. No reason to believe he won't be again.

Chances are we are going into next seasons OTAs and Training Camp with who we have. Unless some unforseen circumstance comes along to change things. We were fine as we were. We should find out what we have before we start tinkering with fixes that may not even be needed.

Then again, I am a died hard fan. So I think everything is going to be alright anyway. Otah coming back, going to be fine. Schwartz coming back, going to be alright. Hangman as quality depth, sure, why not. Bell as quality depth, I don't see the down side. See how easy that was?

All you Debbie Downers are trolling my giddy. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who the hell said we need a lot of money to upgrade at RG or RT? Those are the only positions that need upgrading on O, as I stated in the OP. You're going off topic.

How do you suggest we go about upgrading it?

Our defense needs much more attention than our offense. Everyone agress we need a CB bad. Then most agree we need a d-lineman bad just can't agree on DE or DT. Hell I am not even on the DT bandwagon but I could make an argument thats more of a need as well than a new RG OR RT. We have so many holes to fill on D as it is and will likely have to pickup a FS through F.A to compete with Martin. If Connor leaves then we will have a need at backup MLB too. We are already over the cap and don't have the luxury of upgrading positions that did not cost us games last year.

And maybe that's good enough to win in the regular season. Playoffs? Not something I want to count on.

There was a record setting offense from our vision in the playoffs this season, and even they weren't good enough. Not sure why people believe we can just go into next year with what we had last season, and maybe Schwartz and Otah, and just run over everybody.

Sorry guys, I don't buy it.

Being great on one side of the offensive line doesn't work for me.

A complaint without a solution is just a bich. Unfortunately, around here, that appears to be the norm.

It is the offseason, so anything can, and will, be talked about. The offseason seperates the fans into two categories. Die hard fans. Those fans that crave any and all Panther related information. And Casual fans. The if it does not interest me, I don't care fans.

Most times you need both to explore all possiblities. Just because some poster is an idiot, does not mean his opinion should be ignored. Like the people that think we would actually take an O-linemen in the first round. Or that TD and Otah are pretty much givens to step right back in the line-up.

Oh wait, that's me.

IMO, the number of impact players we draft will directly influence our success next year. Duh, but true. 1 or 2 would be great. What if it were 3 or 4?

Sorry, my giddy gets carried away from time to time. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
