He's playing great and is showing that he has all the tools necessary to be a starting PG. I do not expect him to keep averaging big numbers, he wont need to when Melo and Amare come back, but I believe he makes the Knicks a much better team. A week ago it looked like the Knicks would not even make the Playoffs. Now they're a lock for the Playoffs with Lin moving forward. As Lin fills a hole in the Knicks' roster that they've been searching for since the Melo trade (a ball handler who can run D'antoni's offense).

I don't buy the hype, and I believe the only reason he is being hyped right now is because he is playing in New York, and we all know how biased ESPN is towards their coverage of major market teams, no matter how good or bad they are.

As well as how he is defended and responds once teams have some tape on him to adjust to.

At this point, it's more of a question of how to incorporate Melo and Stat... Lin is playing too well to force him to change much.

Nope. There's a reason why Amare's stats went down so much after Melo joined the Knicks. He's a selfish player.
