most under-hyped story of 2011?

The thing is, if you remove The Golden Calf of Bristol from the equation I think his hype level was pretty good. The Golden Calf of Bristol, however, overshadowed EVERYONE. It's hard for me to really say that Cam was underhyped because for the remaining coverage outside of The Golden Calf of Bristol, he got a good portion of it. I think that image Razyor posted above pretty much shows Cam fit in roughly where one would expect; right below the truly elite QBs, and equal to or above the good QBs (this is excluding the various individuals who were big news stories for flopping or injuries or whatever). Cam was one of the top 10 stories in the NFL throughout the season, sometimes higher than that given the rest of the news cycle.

I guess I could agree he was underhyped but I think that gives the wrong impression of what people thought of him. It was more The Golden Calf of Bristol sucking all the air time up than people not really appreciating what Cam was doing.

They did focus a lot of time on The Golden Calf of Bristol, Peyton, Packers a possible 16-0, Dalton, lockout and Breesus breaking the record...so I could buy into this :)

LOL at NFLN now claiming Cam was the most underrated story of 2011 when it was them who stop midway in discussing Cam and his season to turn their 100% attention to Tim and his never ending worship. You can tell it's the end of the season and these folks have nothing else to write about.

Here's a typical NFLN discussion show....A discussion about a team, segways to The Golden Calf of Bristol. Discussion about Peyton, segways to something about The Golden Calf of Bristol. A discussion about the Packers season record segways into a The Golden Calf of Bristol discussion. A discussion about themselves, segways into a full blown Time The Golden Calf of Bristol butt kissing.

And let's not forget the mentioning every second of the NFL mag with The Golden Calf of Bristol on the cover. I guess they only put out one magazine because they never mentioned who was on the cover for the following month. Unless, the mag was an annual thing.

I agree with you. I don't believe he was underhyped. He was talked about when the event warranted it. To just talk about Cam, like they did Tim, endlessly would have raked my nerves like it did with the non-stop mentioning of The Golden Calf of Bristol.
