I really don't get the Janoris Jenkins hype. The guy was dismissed from Florida, he is 2 inches shorter than Claiborne (5'10'' t0 6'1''), he wasn't a shut down guy when he was at Florida. What am I not getting? If things fall the way that we think they could we could have our pick between a 6'1'' corner, a 6'6'' 290lb DE, or a 6'6'' 300lb DT. Why would you choose Jenkins over them?? He isn't going to be as good as Claiborne or Kirkpatrick.

Then ask yourself if this guy is really better than Brandon Hogan or Darius Butler who were extremely similar prospects coming out only a few years ago. We have a slew of young CBs on our team. CB isn't our problem...not being able to stop the run or rush the passer is the problem. Fix that and you fix two elements of the game. Who are the Giants corners right now?? How much do you think they leaned on those corners to win the superbowl or was it because they rushed the passer better than anyone else in the game.

If we have a chance at Claiborne and Coples is gone then yeah take a corner because he's the best in the draft. But if Coples is there you take him. If they are both gone then you reevaluate but there are probably 3 or 4 other players I'd rather have at that spot than Janoris Jenkins.

have you not seen tape of him taking care of aj green, julio jones, and alshon jeffery? his size wasn't much of a factor then.

he's the 2nd best CB in this class. the only thing that he has against him is some off field issues (that until proven otherwise is behind him) and his size (which hasn't been an issue in his ability to cover some of the best WRs to come out of college in recent years).

i agree that getting a solid DT to anchor the interior Dline is a bigger priority, but if we happen to draft jenkins at the 8/9 spot or really anywhere, i'm not going to fret about it. he's a very talented player.

Obviously haven't seen him play. 2 inches would be an aded bonus for Jenkins but it's not like it hindered him while playing against top opponents in the SEC.

One thing I don't want to do is stay at #8 and take the 2nd best of anything. I either want to move up and take the best DL (Coples IMO) or move back and take the 2nd or 3rd best CB (Kirkpatrick or Jenkins). But I don't want to stay put at #8 and be content with a guy we could have had later. Chances are we won't have to do either because I haven't seen a whole lot of projections saying that Coples or Brockers will go higher than 6 or 7...but you never know with linemen. If it comes down to it and we think that JAX is wanting a DE then I hope we make a trade with whoever's at 6 for that pick. Then take care of the fact that we will have to draft better the next year by firing Marty Hurney...

Completely disagree.

The top Defenses in the league are built from the front back. Getting pressure on the QB is the MOST important defense in the passing game.

SF, NYG, Baltimore, Steelers, etc... all had great defenses with marginal DB's.

Agreed if we cannot pressure the qb the best cb in the league want help us

What if we take the #2 DL, but hes BPA? No BPA?

There is a premium on big, athletic defensive linemen even if they have the "work ethic" concerns or a lack of body of work so I could definitely see us in a situation where Coples is gone and we have a decision to make either to trade down, take Brockers, or take BPA (who would probably end up being an OL). If it was me and Coples was gone or looked like he was going to be gone before #8 then I'd trade back becuase more likely than not we could get a guy like Janoris Jenkins or Dre Kirkpatrick later instead of staying at #8 and taking him way too high.

But like I said if it looks like Jacksonville is going to take Coples and we have the chance to trade in front of them to get him then I'd consider doing that too. He's the only PURE 1st round defensive end in the draft. Ingram is a hybrid, which if we are thinking of moving to a 3-4 then makes sense. The other guys aren't as talented and IMO come draft day won't be worth 1st round picks.

We need to let the corners we have play with a solid defensive line in front of them and a good pass rush before we spend 1st rounders on that position. I'm not sold that Darius Butler, Brandon Hogan, and Chris Gamble are a washed-up bunch when they had zero in the form of linebackers and defensive linemen playing in front of them.

Not to mention there is going to be a guy out there named Cliff Harris who is every bit Janoris Jenkins equal athletically and he won't be drafted until probably the 3rdish round.
