Is Steve Smith a Hall of Famer right now?

Steve Smith in terms of what he is capable of in his prime is one of the best WR's to play the game. But the HOF is not determined by who was the best playmaker or the most talented. It's all about stats.

I think if he can deliver a season like this for the next few years then he will get in. It will take probably 15 plus years but he will get in.

No way in hell would I take Marvin Harrison or TO, Welker or Hines Ward over Steve Smith.

Smith is better than those guys. The only reason that he doesnt have the stats is because of his situation. I don't think there has ever been a player Smith's caliber to be so disrespected and underrated because of similar circumstances. It really is unfortunate. But hopefully Cam will be able to change that in time.

Even though we maybe correct, we have a bias towards steve and see him differently than most of the national media.

I mean Chris Carter is struggling to get in... and with more time more and more people are just going to get backed up on the waiting list as new players become elgible.... Though I may think Steve deserves to get in before some of those guys believing that he gets in before TO Welker and even Harrision is un realistic thinking the national media and voters would vote him in before them.

Jim Kelly averaged 220 yards per game...Cam Newton threw for 300 more yards than Jim Kellys greatest year.

Jake Delhomme averaged 211 yards per game...9 yards less but to you it's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT OFFENSE!!!!111111derp!!!!

Know your role. Internet winning lol

Perhaps you're misunderstanding what I'm saying, or I'm not understanding something you said earlier, but I don't see how this is in any way beneficial to you.

The Bills K-Gun was one of the better offenses of the early nineties.

The fact that the stats are similar only goes to show two things: a) how the game was starting to evolve as weve said and b) how bad a John fox passing attack was.

And yet, even with that, Smith is still on pace to surpass Reed.

And people seem to forget that it will be another ten years until Smith even becomes eligible in this scenario.

Carter will get in in that time frame. As will Harrison. Brown may. Reed is irrelevant because Smith will have surpassed him in this scenario (and could be challenging Brown statistically as well for that matter) All the other current receivers will my yet be eligible.

There literally isn't a single shred of credible evidence to suggest Smith won't have an adequate shot at it.

I am seeing a lot of stats thrown around in this thread. I am not sure if they are just regular season statistics or if they include the playoffs as well. Smith's playoff performances have been pretty good, especially considering x-clown.

Also, would Smith's stats in the return game factor in at all? I remember him having a great return average as well as a handful of return TDs early on in his career.

how the fug will a ring cement it? Art Monk has 3 and he was ignored for years.

Love Steve Smith as much as y'all want, but try to live in reality. kthx

Yeah, we do love him though. Maybe 250 yards and 3 tds in a SB MVP performance would bring him close.
