Is Steve Smith a Hall of Famer right now?

Except the conversation had already evolved past that. To come in and suggest that your opinion should be the deficiding voice among us all is foolish. Did you not read the posts prior to you posting? Or was the promise of being able to make a smarmy post with dreams of pie and swag coming to your side too much?

I think about facts.

As well as the information in Panthro's thread.

It's okay dude, everyone is on the wrong side of an argument sometimes.

But, the good news is that you can still save face and admit we are right.

I agree if Smitty gets 8000 more yards and 80 touchdowns and 4 rings. Then he will make it. Happy?

"No! You'll never make me admit that I was so eager to show my superiority, that I didn't even take time to read!!"

hey, just for referencing, do you always blatantly ignore everything that has been said before you make your comment?

I just wanna make sure I know in the future about how informed, or lack therof, you are each and every time you chime in with an arrogant, misinformed, comment.

Well, we all know that Cam's bust is already being made for Canton. Having said that, his swag will light a fire under Steve during the twilight of his career that we've not ever seen before.

Steve has built his amazing career to this point with spotty QB play along the way, no one is questioning that. And now, he will hitch his wagon to Cam Newton, and ride into the HOF.

It doesn't have to go well. Have you even looked at the stats? Two more elite seasons, followed by a few seasons in the slot, will give him, as I've stated, an undeniable chance.

Here's a point you - and some others - are missing.

Take a look at this year's Hall of Fame class:

- Dermontti Dawson

- Curtis Martin

- Willie Roaf

- Chris Doleman

- Cortez Kennedy

- Jack Butler

Do you see a wide receiver in that list?

There are two who came close, namely Cris Carter and Andre Reed. Andre Reed, a guy who was the best receiver on a team that went to the Super Bowl four years in a row and whose name is all over the record books. He's been eligible since 2006 and hasn't made it. So you've got him, Carter and some of the other guys mentioned earlier when they retire to compete with just at that position.

But here's the thing: To get in, you aren't just competing against other receivers. You've gotta be more worthy than all the other quarterbacks, runningbacks, o-line, d-line, linebackers, whatever to be voted in one of those five or six spots. And more worthy than some guys who have been waiting five/ten/twenty years for their shot. And more new guys become eligible every year.

How about a guy like Kevin Greene? Greene is the all time sack leader among linebackers. The only two guys in history with more sacks than him are Bruce Smith and Reggie White (arguably Deacon Jones). He has more sacks than Lawrence Taylor, John Randle and Richard Dent, all of whom are in the Hall of Fame. He also has more sacks than another fellow, Chris Doleman. But whose name do you see on the Hall of Fame induction list above?

Since retiring, Greene became a position coach. With the Packers, he coached a linebacking unit that helped win a Super Bowl, so he now has a ring as a coach. He retired from playing in 1999, which means he's been eligible since 2004. He's come close a few times, but he's still not in, while Chris Doleman is.

And you seriously think Smitty's just going to walk off the field and be handed a yellow jacket? :nonod:

He might get there. Lord knows I hope he does.

But is he there now, or easily within reach?

Afraid not.

And, as it's been stated, Smith has certain advantages those players don't have (including other advantages that those others didn't have, including the likes of the information age and such things)

If Smitty reaches, and passes those others statistically, and acquires a ring-he becomes a more deserving candidate. I'm not sure where Panther fans get this mentality that the grass is always greener. That Andre Reed would be more deserving than Steve Smith simply because he didn't play for the Panthers.

Noone in this thread but the OP has said that Smith would get in now. What has been said, is that he has an opportunity. And he most certainly does.

If we we assume that Cam continues to progress, and this offense becomes more pass oriented-which is only logical to assume-then Smith's chances only grow.

My bad, I correctly answered the OP's question.

And all of the idiot posters agree with you.

Congrats, you are king of the internetz.

 Youve done nothing but admit that you didn't even have the decency to read what's been said, but thought that what you had to say was so far above what everyone else thinks that you shouldn't have to.

What's it like to live life with that sense of entitlement? Were your parents wealthy growing up? Was it nice having everything handed to you?

I think he has a chance, but a very slim one.

His numbers in the 70's, 80's or 90's and I say shoe in....these days..not so much.

Two rings, with one showing getting him a SB MVP, and he would have a leg to stand on, but as of now, he isn't really close.

Angry poster is angry.

No need to lash out and call me entitled. My dad drove a propane truck and my mother works with special needs children.

I read the thread, but I didn't learn anything I didn't know before.

I agree everyone can have and share their opinion, but when someone disagrees, I don't call them stupid.

You went from arguing facts, to calling me stupid, misinformed, and entitled.

If you could present a counter argument to Mr. Scots and Panthros, I would be interested in reading it.
