Coples can play DT

Honestly, I think he'll be as good as he wants to be, at any position of the D line barring NT. He is that gifted. He had his most dominant year at DT too. This guy scares me, because I don't know if we should take a chance on him. The rumors about his work ethic were apparently started by his coaches. That's just really bad. I think this guy will be DROY next year, but what's gonna happen once he gets some cash? Slack off? Can Rivera get this guy playing hard? Eh there are just so many questions.

this wouldn't fit into any of the other threads about coples?

put 15 pounds on him and i'd feel ok about him playing DT in the pros.

he said in the wright interview that he felt more comfortable playing inside than outside, but it doesn't seem like he wants to play inside. i know he said he's versatile and can play anywhere and will do what ever he's told, but then why is he working out as a DE?

i think he can be dominant in the league at either position if he really wants it. i just question that "wanting it" part.

Hardy played DT in college too and in the pros. Don't feel like a natural DE can play DT well. At least I don't see it happening. I rather they acquire a heavy 300+ pound gap stuffer from the draft or via FA.

We have the big fat guy run stuffer....his name is Ron Edwards. Not to mention that I do expect Fua to get stronger with a full offseason in an NFL Program.

What we need is that disruptive UT that can get pressure in the middle and be disruptive. Not sure if Coples is that guy, but we DO NOT need another fat run-stuffer.

I have to see anyone doubt Coples' talent, it's his heart, motor and passion for the game that are in question. Talent is useless without the drive to make the most of it and he's not the caliber of athlete that Peppers is to where he can get by on it with a half hearted attempt.

If I truly believed he would adopt the attitude of Cam, Smitty and Beason then I would be all for him despite my thoughts on our needs.
