Charges dismissed against Dre Kirkpatrick

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Don't know whether it is a good or bad thing. I think it was far enough removed from combine, etc... that it would have become less and less of an issue. Now this seems to bring it all up. I could see a lot of people looking at this and thinking it is so much more lame and stupid than actually getting caught in the first place.

In the long runhe can get past it but I don't think this helps.

We had this debate already.

Doesn't matter one bit what you think of the laws. Breaking them has consequences.

Fair or not, breaking them when you've got everything in the world to lose makes people question your judgment and intelligence.

The debate about Kirkpatrick is framed in those terms.

Well apparently he didn't. Charges dropped.

I don't know enough about him to say whether I want him or not, but if the Panthers had planned to take him anyway then this shouldn't affect their decision.

Like I said before. I might even take a manslaughter or murder 2 rap for top 10 draft pick that i trusted.

I'm on the couch for life.

Jerry Richardson cares.

He doesn't want another Rae Carruth.

Not saying Kirkpatrick is in that class, mind you. If it were a violent crime, though...

Technically, Ben Roethlisberger is "innocent" too.

For the record, I have no strong feelings about Kirkpatrick either way. Just framing the debate...

are you saying that we shouldn't consider players that haven't broken the law?

I don't understand where you're going with this

Violent crimes or major felonies, I'd absolutely drop those guys from the draft board.

Other stuff is a judgment call. Team has to decide whether a guy just did something dumb or is dumb.

Worth remembering we spent a draft pick last year on a guy with DUI on his record. Not a first rounder, mind you, but a draft pick. When he came aboard, he was plainly told if he screws up again, it's his ass.
