The Offseason...

Think the off season gonna be a little surprising as it unfolds. This whole thing is like choosing up sides and playing. You always wanted to go to the team that had the best chance of winning. I think there will be some folks that will want to be part of it.

Mario could be a great 1 right off the top of my head.

Well, every one be safe and we see what happens

yes it's the off season so i can't wait for the draft articles to start coming out so we can figure out which player's smile is the most fake

i put this in the saints losing FAs thread but i'll post it here as well because it's full of lol

nfldraftupdate Agent of #Saints QB Drew Brees, Tom Condon, is "baffled" by the slow pace of contract talks; @ClaytonESPN says the sides are nowhere close.

i thought this was interesting and not something i'm thrilled about but whatever...

from a redskins blog talking about new offseason rules regarding players talking to coaches and what they can/can't do at team facilities.

For example, players will be able to go to Redskins Park and talk to the coaches. But, according to the new rules, they will not be able to talk about football.

What?

No, there is no lockout in effect but the CBA prohibits players and coaches from talking to each other about football until the voluntary offseason workout program starts on the third Monday in April. The players can’t be coached, they can’t talk about tackling technique or what will be added to the playbook. Maybe they could chat about Sunday’s Super Bowl but even that might cross the line.

Here’s another quirk. Let’s say John Beck and Terrence Austin show up at Redskins Park and want to work on some pass patterns. They can do that, but Beck couldn’t throw a football to Austin. That’s because under the new rules the players can’t have footballs on the field at the team facility.

So, to sum it up, at a football team’s facility, employees are prohibited from playing football and talking about football.

The idea is to give the players a break from football and let them focus on returning to school to get their degrees or to pursue business interests. And there is nothing preventing Beck and Austin from finding a high school field and tossing a ball around there. But, despite the sound reasoning, it sure does sound odd.

I'd agree that's pretty funny

Realistically, I don't see any chance they part ways with Brees.

But I'll still be smiling because their POS of a DC is now out of the division :D

And I'm sure nobody will violate that "can't talk about football" rule

Maybe Newton will show up at the facility and ask coach Shula "Hey, did you catch Dancing With The Stars last night?"

Shula can respond, "Yeah, did ya see the one guy's footwork? Cause ya know, if you were doing a tango, I'd say your footwork should look kinda like that."

"Oh really? Show me what those tango steps should look like; maybe three, five or seven steps at a time."

"Glad to. Here, hold this football. You can pretend it's a dance partner. For a big finish, we'll have you throw your partner to one of the judges. I'll have Smitty pretend to be the judge."

One more interesting tidbit from today.

Bears have brought in Jeremy Bates, Cutler's old QB coach from his early years in Denver, to assume that role in Chicago.

Story was that Cutler got pissed about Bates either not getting retained or promoted back in Denver, and that played a part in his falling out with the Broncos (I forget the exact circumstances and don't feel like looking it up) :sosp:
